midi is so confusing
still am lost..

is there a setting i have to apply to make the mpc a slave

i have the 410 midi out going to the mpc midi in and i have the mpc midi out going to my mophatt module...

sounds correct.....?

am I still going to have to chop it up into a perfect loop?
when i hiot play on the mpc my software does nothing?
does in sync mean the software moves when mpc does?

You've got your midicables hooked up ok.
i don't use cooledit myself, so i can't help you with that. I trust you've already found the mpc's sync screen?

Listen man,
u got to do some reaseach casue there is alot of info out their on this topic, Plus i have no idea what software ur using.

U cant just hook up your MPC to the m-audio and expect it to work.
You have to apply settings on both you MPC and the software your usuing

1.you have to set up your sofwareware to send "midi time clock" signals to the MPC(threw your m-audio 410 MIDI) . This should be in the software manual

2.You have to set the MPC up to recive "midi time clock" signals
(This is explained in the MPC manual.)

When i have everything "synced" in cubase i make sure i set the bpm in cubase to the same as the sequnce on the MPC.

So if the sequnce loop im recording is 90bpm on the MPC, i make sure the temp is set to 90bpm in cubase. That way the bars line up perfeclty.

Cubase is the master, the MPC is the slave, so
WHen i press play in cubase, the MTC signals are sent to the MPC(threw your m-audio)

the MPC recvies the signals
and begins playing the sequnce , cubase records the audio, the audio loops are divided perfeclty by the bpm bars.(since we set them to the same bpm_

I usually record 2 or three loops of a sequnce becasue the MPC takes a couple of mililseconds to sync with cubase so the first loop is usually off.

I highlight the "second" 8 bar loop i recorded that is perfeclty synced , and cut and past thougout cubase to the lenght that i want.

This is what the pro's do
Understand the concept, figure out the details on your own.

Good luck

ok I have my software (adobe audition) recieving the midi input.. becuasde when i hit the pad it tells me the note in the software... my problem is that I get no sound from my module.. thats why i was asking if I have to set the software to send midio out so it can to my module and play the sounds

Dude u have to understand

it shouldent matter if the track ur recording is audio from the MPC , or just a MIDI track on your MPC that Triggers sounds on you module.

Casue your MPC audio ,and your rack audio should be going into your MIXER

THen the MIXER output audio should be going into your M-audio Inputs.

So to m-audio 410, and your software, dosent care if the sounds are coming from your MPC or your rack

U just solo each track on the MPC sequnce and let it play. Dosent matter if the audio is coming from the rack or the MPC

Do you have a mixer, casue that sounds like the problem

What is your MoPhatt module mainouts hooked up to?

No AUDIO travels along the MIDI cable.

Mophatt mainouts will have to go to a line in interface somewhere so you can hear the sounds.

I have a mixer and i have mpc and module audio goin to my mixer....

I wanted to be able to use cool edit to have my beat tracked individually. Seems like i took a leap into an endless pit..

I tried both setups
mpc master software slave
software master mpc slave

when i hit play on my mpc the sftware plays as well... but have the mopc going into the 410 midi in.. in order for my sounds to play ({strictly midi no samples )
I need a midi signal to go to my module...

It appears to me that cool edit doesnt have an option to setup midi output...

my question is with yuour whole setup... how does the midi signal get to ur module? if all you have is the mpc midi out to ur 410 midi in?

i am understanding that yuou need a midi signal to go to your module.

I do appreciate your help and efforts class....

Don't loose hope yet, I'm looking though the book. I have only used 2kxl and AA together. Never had a module hooked up into the setup though.

Check pg 180 xl manual.
Check pg 11 xl manual.

Maybe something there can clue you in on something you are missing or need to know.

If it were me I would try:
MPC outA to MoPhatt.
MPC outB to CEP.

a little progress folks....

I have reached my desired effect by having mpc midi out into sound module midi in

then going sound module "thru " to pc midi in

I believe in this set up I have my mpc as my master....

thnx u guys.....

for all input and help..

I am noe gonna see how i can have a perfect loop without manually editting ... has to be a way to get the pc to record jus 1 loop and not go continuously

Its all good as long as you put in the effort i dont mind helping at all, what i want to understand is why do you have your MPC audio going direclty into your firwire

The only audio that should be going into your firewire is your mixer output,

really sit down and think

Here is how your audio signal should be set up
MPC audio out to MIXER audio IN
Rack audio out to MIXER audio IN

Mixer audio out to firwire 410 audio in

That whay the m-audio recvies sounds from your rack and your MPC

Do you understand

So if you solo a track with just sounds on your MPC, thats what the is recorded in your software(casue it goes threw the mixer

If you solo a track with just sounds on your rack, that also records in the software(casue its going threw your mixer)

What i descibed is my set up, i will post a pictu later

class I know what you mean

I have all my audio going throuigh my mixer.. sorry theres was a misunderstanding.... I have everything going to my mixer .. my technics.. the audio outputs from the dvd lol....

sorry i wasnt clear in explaining.. i guess it was from slight frustration... and eagerness....

is there anyway to have it play one full loop and thats it? if not i guess im jus gonna have to manually chop... also... my software has a drift like it doesnt start recording when the mpc plays.. but i see what u were saying class to jus let it go about 3 times.....

Well see again with cubase you have tempo bars. So if i set the tempo to 90bpm in cubase. THere will be bars that highlight every 4 8 or 16 mesusures( or whatever i choose)

In cubase & protools all you have to do is higlight the bar you want and cut and paste. I dont know if your software does that or not
