Automating sample start

Hi! I'm asking this everywhere 'cause I can't believe it can't be done. I have a keyboard group and I want to dynamically chance the sample start time. The effect I want to obtain is sort of like a wavetable synth with wavetable scanning.
I can easily do it using the qlinks, but I can't seem to record the automation. Can anybody think of a workaround? Also, Akai, why o why things can't just work as one expects?

You can automate it between -9999 to 9999, relative to the set start point. The parameters are called "Layer 1 Offset" etc. in the MIDI clip editor's automation lane's parameter list.

The automation parameter select/add thingy says "Velocity" by default, maybe you didn't realize that it's a selection menu.

Edit: you wanted to RECORD it, not draw curves. Dunno about that.

That's a step in the right direction! The problem is that I need to record the automation using a know, and I can't find any way to map a knob to that parameter - am I missing something else?

Got it!

- Make sure you have RECORD CONFIG / Automation / [x] Write automation when recording : hold down REC and tap Settings to get to the recording configuration

- Set Knobs mode to SCREEN
- Make a MIDI clip for the keygroup
- Start recording on the clip.
- Go to the keygroup's editor, third Samples tab where you have the OFFSET
- Tweak the Q-link where you have LAYER 1 OFFSET

--> the tweaks are recorded as automation in the clip.
