MIDI Help (MPC One as Master)

Thanks for your reply, jamos. I appreciate all of you taking the time to respond.

The problem is, that first picture *doesn't* tell you what we need to know. All it tells us is that the MPC is generating those midi messages and showing them in the monitor "Out" page. Disconnect all your midi cables and try it. It still shows the same messages in the midi monitor.
As for testing out of SR-16 to In of the MPC- I've already done a test to determine what note numbers the SR-16 is sending/receiving. Kick is C1 (where I set it on the SR-16). I know this because a DAW sequencer sending that note number triggered the kick on my SR-16.

I still think there must be some other page or setting that I don't know about because I'm new to the MPC One that does some global midi function that enables it to send messages out the out port. Or it's something in the Midi/Sync page that is set wrong that somehow none of us have caught(?).

There is a setting in the Sr16 that disables MIDI input. Page two of the midi setup button, that's on page 43 of the manual.

One thing to be aware of is that there are different standards for octave numbering. Your daw might be using a different standard for C1 than the MPC does, same with the sr16. I can't remember. I have to do translation between my instruments here all the time, it's a bit of a pain but you get used to it.

If you still are not sure that the MPC is sending what you need, try an external MIDI monitor. In my experience the monitor on the MPC matches exactly to what is being sent out.

I did take that into consideration. Two tests told me that was not it:
-While the sequence played I transposed the midi note slowly from G8 all the way down to C-2. No sounds triggered.
-Then I played every pad in every bank of my midi instrument. Same result.

I am waiting on a friend to try connecting midi out from my MPC to his drum machine and see if it receives any midi.

Did another test just now:

Connected midi Out from my MPC to midi In on my friend's SR-16 and played my sequence. No notes triggered.
The same drum machine does respond to his DAW without problem, just as my SR-16 did in the previous test.
Kick is C1.

I tried changing various parameters in the Midi/Sync page and re-played the sequence each time. No dice.

For the record, my Midi/Sync settings are:
Input Ports- all unselected
Output Ports- MPC- Track
Enable Midi Ports When Discovered- checked
Midi Control Mode Output- MPC

Sync Receive- Off
Receive MMC- unchecked

Sync Send- Off
Send MMC- unchecked

Try turning off MIDI Control Mode. It is irrelevant; maybe it is hosing things up.
