MPC One : buttons stopped working

Hi all,

I've just bought an mpc one two weeks ago from vendor on Reverb, only turned it on 3-4 times it looks new/ very good condition.

I registered it on InMusic and everything was fine, was learning the functions, A few days ago I turned it on to try record samples and it boots up looking normal, the pads light up while it loads then the main home screen comes up but all of the pads and the buttons are turned off and not functioning.
no response when I try to enter diagnostic mode.

Anyone ever hear of this happening, I contacted the guy who I bought it from and he bought it new in 2021, said it got very little use and he's been around them for a while and never heard of this happening.
Also have that serial number invalid bug but don't think that should effect hardware?

I have no idea about that bug, but that machine is entirely software and nothing but software.

You need to run diagnostics mode to re-serialize the device. However that option has been changed in recent firmwares so I suggest you downgrading it to 2.10.x and then going into the "test app mode" to reinitialize your input interface and serial.

Thanks for the advice, the strangest thing happened today, downloaded the downgrade firmware onto usb, inserted it into Mpc and turned on then all the buttons came back as well as the Serial number registration.
I didn't even downgrade like, it just randomly came back from using an input port? not sure
I'm so confused, happy its back working but the whole experience doesn't give me confidence in the device.

No need to worry. Machines sometimes happen to keep states of the circuitry „stored“ and don‘t initialize. It‘s rare, but existing for decades and in no way restricted to MPCs.
Your action probably did just a proper initialization.

A good „force init“ is to disconnect all power sources and then switch on/off a couple of times with power still disconnected. This will discharge capacitors on board that may buffer incorrect states.
Then connect power as usual and restart.
