2.12.3 broke my SATA on Live2

Just updated to 2.12.3 and now my device refuses to see my SATA drive, thus I have none of my projects, samples, or even paid for plugins as that's the download location!

Anybody else come across issues with the latest update?

Any ideas how to fix this one? It was working literally 12 hours ago and all I've done since then is shutdown overnight then go to update in the morning.

Can't access the drive from the computer in controller mode either.

Go back to the previous OS version.

That's unlikely to help as it looks like the drive is corrupted. Wish I'd paid more attention to what filesystem was on it, as it was bought secondhand I didn't format it myself and didn't think to take note....

Remove the drive, pop it in a usb SATA enclosure, see if your computer recognises it. It’s likely in exFAT format

Someone had this SSD disappearing thing happen to them recently, but remember if it was this site, but I think they took it out & mounted it to a PC disk utility to check for errors or whatever but saw that their files were still there then put it back in the MPC it show up like normal.

Did you try that?

As mpc_fan stated go back to the previous version. I'd also suggest removing the disk, putting it into an enclosure and connect it to your PC to see if it's working in general. If it does, then create a backup (which is a good advice in general). If it doesn't work after the downgrade or even your PC can't read it, then check for broken sectors on the disk. Your disk might have just failed at the same time you did the update and the update has nothing to do with it. Also did you check that the MPCs sata cable is correctly attached to your disk? What happens when you insert another disk? Does this one work in the MPC? If not, then disassemble the MPC and check if the sata cable is attached to the board correctly.

Side Note:
On MacOS I use CCCloner to automagically create backups of the SD cards and disks I use in my MPCs when they get mounted. Which automatically happens every time I put one of my MPCs into controller mode.

I took out my SATA caddy but unfortunately it seems I've misplaced the cable. Think it's the only thing I now own that uses mini (not micro) USB...

BUT I seem to have found some solution. As a Linux user it's unlikely to be of huge help to many others so I wont go deeply into details, but using a utility called testdisk I've managed to set a partition table and although the MPC still wont recognise it, and it still wont mount directly to the computer, the testdisk utility itself has a copy and paste option, thus currently I'm copying the whole content to my computer's hard drive (spot checked a couple of samples play OK and all seems good) and then will reformat the device and transfer back onto it... Bit long and slow but it should get me there (plus it will give me a chance to run a deep format which should mark any failed sectors when I reformat.)

I should probably edit the title, I suspect the update is a coincidence and red herring...

Honestly. if you suspect the drive failed somehow, putting the data back on it seems like a really bad idea. Buying a new drive seems like the more prudent option. If your original drives fails again, you may permanently lose all your data. I wouldn't take a chance on that gamble if the data is important to you.
