Serial numbers for "Factory Content" Tubesynth, Hype, Solina

Does anyone know how to find the serial numbers for the synths which come as standard with the MPC One.

I have installed as AU plugins, the Air instruments (Stage Piano, Organ, Mini-D, Studio Strings etc) that I have purchased for MPC so I can also use them in Logic Pro. All of those instruments are activated and working fine in Logic.

But after I install the synths I got as part of the MPC installation (Tubesynth, Hype, Mellotron, Solina etc) as AU plugins, I go to use the instrument and Logic pops up a window where I am required to enter the serial number to activate them.

Those instruments don't show on my account page as separate items, unlike the purchased ones, so no serial numbers are listed.

Anyone know where to find the numbers, or how to otherwise activate my AU Plugins??


UPDATE: In case anyone is interested, I heard back from Air support and it seems that they only support activation of AU/VST plugins for purchased Air instruments, not for the instruments that are bundled with the factory content. Those factory instruments can only be used in Standalone or MPC Software, or via the MPC plugin... To activate them as AU or VST they would have to be purchased individually from Air.
So there we have it.

Yep Bassline was free for a while but it’s also probably the least attractive plugin

Thanks for posting this update. I've been wondering the exact same thing since I got my MPC. I too reached out to air for an answer to the question: Can I use the preinstalled instruments in my own DAW as vsts (e.g. can i use Hype on it's own in ableton without needing to go via MPC2 software). Well the answer I got was a little woolly, but I also concluded it was NO.

So if anyone else out there has managed to find their own serials from the software that came bundled with their hardware, I'd love to know please! :/

Did anyone try using the sn# of the MPC instead?

The SN for the hardware is a different format to the software unlocks, so don't think it can work.

Those free synths such as bassline, solina etc, are only free if used within an MPC. If you want to also use in other DAW environments you'll need to buy a suitable license. Or you can just load up the MPC Software VST/AU and run them for free through that. Seems fair IMO!

Incorrect. MPC customers never had to buy Tubesynth, Hype, Solina etc, Akai provided them 100% for free for use within their MPC. Akai are only charging for the VST versions for people who want to use them 'outside' of the MPC ecosystem. And if you don't want to pay then just load an instance of the free MPC Software VST into your favourite DAW and use the free MPC plugins that way.

When it comes to the 'paid' MPC plugins, such as Jura or Mini D, then a single purchase allows use across both MPC and DAW ecosystems. Again, Akai don't expect you to 'buy twice', just once. Seems very unreasonable to see any of this as some kind of failing on Akai's part. Seems more like unrealistic expectations from (some) end users.

I see your point, and I'm familiar with the workarounds, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to be able to use a plugin I bought in the manner I'd prefer. I'm not aware of any other plugins that need separate paid licenses for different formats (including most of the other plugins that were included in the same bundle), so it was definitely disappointing to learn. Especially since there was no mention of it when I bought the key 61 last year. Anyway, cheers

You didn't buy a plugin, you bought a hardware MPC that comes with a suite of internal synths and FX for use within that MPC. If you buy a workstation keyboard from Roland or Korg, you wouldn't normally expect the internal FX to somehow also be usable in Ableton Live or Logic.

Actually even the other way, if you buy Ableton Live or any other DAW you'll find all the free factory synths and FX are not usable anywhere else as they are baked into the software itself. That's generally how factory plugins work, no matter what the platform.

All MPCs come with free internal factory plugins, these are effectively 'baked in' and only usable within that MPC, just like the internal FX and sounds found on any hardware synth. Additionally the MPC Key includes complimentary licenses for Air's range of 'premium plugins', such as Fabric and Studio Strings - these do come with the option to use elsewhere, they are sold that way. But that's because they are not standard 'internal factory' freebies.

Ultimately what I am saying is that what you were expecting (i.e. all the FX and synths inside a hardware device to also be usable in software DAWs) would generally be an unrealistic expection and not something that you would get anywhere else. So the fact that they included some multi-platform plugins as well should make you happy, not disappointed.

Trust me, there's plenty of things to be disappointed with within the MPC ecosystem, but this isn't one of them.
