Hi all.

I spent most of yesterday trying to make a template for my ONE which included setups for my small collection of Volca & Volca esque cheapo synths & a proper good mapping for my Novation LC XL.

I really just want the standard mixer stuff going on with the LC XL with the four sends, mutes solos etc.
No problems there you might think and there really wasnt any with the first eight sliders but I really want to make a template with 16 tracks and I want to map all four MPC send/returns to each channel strip on the LC XL.

1, Is it possible to use the left right "Track Select" & up down "Send Select" arrow keys on the LC XL with MPC

2, Has anyone ever mapped the multifunction Mute/Solo etc button to work as expected with the MPC??

3, Can I use User Template 1-8 by holding down User button and selecting one of the bottom row of LC XL buttons??

Also, So that I dont have to map Program Volume every time I have mapped the Track Volume instead which is MIDI volume rather than actual audio. Can anybody tell if and why this is a bad idea???
I ask because it does feel a bit wrong...... I know I can do Sub Mix volume but there are only eight of those.

While I am at it.
It seems to me that the LC XL is one of the most commonly used and genuinely useful controllers for the MPC yet there is no Factory Global mapping for it...... Come on AKAI please add this controller to the list and just make it do all the common mixer functions stated on the face of the LC XL just like all the DAWS have.

Many thanks to all

Bests

I think anyone who has a popular controller thinks the same thing....EVERYONE HAS THIS ONE, COME ON AKAI! lol

This video was very useful as I started to figure out how to best integrate my external controller (launch control XL) with the MPC One. The tip to use submixes instead of tracks/programs and saving as a template is a great one.

Here's the google bard readout of the video for those who aint got the time:
summarize and provide details https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeJEYK7 ... 5yeA1CySoO

Here is a summary of the video and some of the key takeaways:

This video is a tutorial on how to set up the midi for the MPC Live 2, MPK Mini, and Launch Control XL. The video starts by going over some initial settings that need to be changed in the preferences menu. These settings include turning on auto save, making sure enable midi ports when discovered is checked, and setting the track, control, and global options.

The next step is to map the controls to different things inside the MPC. This is done by going to the midi control menu and adding an entry for each mapping. When adding an entry, you need to select the source, target, and parameter. The source is the device that you want to control, the target is the thing that you want to control on that device, and the parameter is the specific setting that you want to control.

Once you have added an entry, you need to click learn and then move the control that you want to map. The MPC will then learn the movement of the control and associate it with the parameter that you selected.

After you have mapped all of the controls that you want to use, you can save your project as a template. This will allow you to quickly set up the midi for future projects.

Here are some of the key takeaways from the video:

Turn on auto save in the preferences menu.
Make sure enable midi ports when discovered is checked in the preferences menu.
Set the track, control, and global options in the preferences menu.
Add an entry for each mapping in the midi control menu.
Select the source, target, and parameter for each mapping.
Click learn and then move the control that you want to map.
Save your project as a template.
I would recommend watching the video if you want to learn more about how to set up the midi for the MPC Live 2, MPK Mini, and Launch Control XL.

I imagine that the cross-selling opportunities for Akai peripherals would make the development of MIDI mapping templates very profitable - Akai could even get third-party manufacturers contribute to the cost of developing the feature, in return for their equipment having a template !

Thanks for your replies people.

I had seen those vids Seaninnj but thanks for sharing.
Like I said there are only 8 sub mixes.... I really wanted to make a 16 track template which is actually a few more than I need.

Anyone have luck using the arrow keys on the LCXL??
Getting access to all four sends on the Launchcontrol is a must for me.

I sometime think I waste so much time trying to make things like this work on my MPC that I might be better off just using BITWIG...... LCXL just works instantly on there.
I just love using my MPC and want to integrate it properly into my crappy little studio setup when home, sample the heck out of everything and travel with only my MPC and Launchcontrol XL. Eight channels just aint quite enough for me.
