Correction, the next release is expected to be 2.13 or perhaps 2.12.4.

I believe you meant to say that you ‘are hoping’ the next release might be 3.0.

What evidence do you have that has lead you to believe that a 3.0 firmware is coming at winter namm?

of course this is pure speculation; obviously I have zero evidence,

just a strong suspicion based on circumstantial evidence.

Your only 'circumstantial evidence' is the crap you're making up in your head.
Aint NOBODY predicting this mythical 3.0 except YOU.

It is a "little" irritating because Dan himself did say that the force and mpc would merge firmware with 3.0

That was.....dunno, 3-4 years of more ago and we're still waiting.

we all saw the screen shot of the mpc 3.0 softwre that was on akia's website; so that is on piece of evidence; also the fact that force is already at v3 is another.

and then the akai aniversary year is another factor; also the length of time we have been in 2.x.x; we cant stay at v2 forever at some point it will roll over

Speculations lead to expectations, which is the root of all heartbreak.

This is the best comment I've seen on music gear related forums so far! :worthy:

Worth a Nobel Prize or a Grammy Award.

I think it's worth remembering that Dan Gill was thinking out loud on Gearspace, 4 years later I suspect Akai/inMusic overall roadmap could have changed dramatically, so we simply don't know what they are currently working on or what their future ambitions are. If you look at Dan's subsequent posts I think it's clear he was 'spoken to' as he starts referring to 'future press releases' and how he cannot confirm anything.

Here's what Dan Gill said about 3.0:

disk streaming is going to be a 3.0 thing, because in 2.x there's no concept of a 1 to 1 track model, so it's a pile of confusion. for instance, seq 1 can be drums on track 3, then on seq 2 it could be on track 10, or completely different programs entirely.

3.0 will be a 1 to 1 model (like force is now). track 1, when you add a drum kit or plugin will then be on track 1 in all sequences. this is probably our #1 request, actually.

And this:

yea, skins wont happen
the Force is a sneak preview of MPC 3.0's GUI. the mixer is much improved, for example

And this:

For instance, there's no song mode. instead what will happen is we're going to build a proper arrangement view, which will then be for both MPC and Force. MPC will keep song mode as well, for backwards compatibility.

There might be other stuff as well. I couldn't find anything where he specifically stated that the force and mpc will completely merge, not sure if that's just people extrapolating, Id be surprised if this happens as they would likely want to keep the two ecosystems suitably unique and tailored to slightly different audiences.

But who knows, I think plans can change quite dramatically in the space of 4 years, and it's one thing pontificating in 2019 on what you plan for a '3.0' release, compared to what you are actually able to achieve.

I think they are doing a very good job of showing us that they can stay in the 2.x.x.x.x. zone for many years to come. It took 2 years to go from 2.10 to 2.12, so we have another 88 years of these types of releases, at which point they could just go from 2.99.0 to 2.100.0

The only thing that I might interpret to indicating a possible big change on the horizon is the lack of real development in the last few releases, it's all been about accommodating the current cash cow (paid plugins) and a few little bug fixes here and there. So perhaps they have decided to no longer add new features to 2.x, saving them for 3.x. they might also be stablising the licensing system so it's ready to handle a paid OS update (because they really can't afford to mess that up)

Or, perhaps they decided that the whole 3.0 thing was just too much bother when they could just instead spend the next few years flooding the market with paid plugins?

but Dan did get fired of left so maybe his assertions no longer carry any weight

there is a way of being emotionally detached while speculating; this avoids the heartbreak; sameway when u sending out multiple job applications, or going on multiple job interviews or multiple dates.

just cos u have an interview for ur dream job; its still speculative until u get the offer; or ur dream date its all speculation until she let u smash.

so dudes should not be emotionally invested at the speculation stage of anything
