That was.....dunno, 3-4 years of more ago and we're still waiting.

but Dan did get fired of left so maybe his assertions no longer carry any weight

He was not fired and has not left Akai. Someone very recently posted a support transcript which was with Dan Gill, Akai Senior Product Manager.

No idea how things work at Akai/inMusic, but I suspect bean counters are ultimately dictating where they go on these things, although I assume they consult with the developers to make sure it is all feasible etc.

I guess at the moment it's all just wishful thinking and specualtion :)

I do recall hearing Dan say that the FORCE and MPC would merge firmware in a video because I thought at the time how cool that was going to be......back when I was a wee lad years ago :)

I think they really do need to give people a more one-to-one system as the current way of working is just to please the old users and we need to modernise the workflow.

Give us a damn linear arranger/timeline and an HDMI out to see it on a large monitor. Roland knew this was the way to do it years ago and AKAI still can't see it.
Standalone can only really be truly "standalone" when we can have the display mirrored onto an external monitor (hopefully with more content visible like in controller mode)
That is true standalone! I don't understand people who say "just use a computer if you want a big screen" that's not the point. If you take that to the extreme, why not replace the MPC with just a 16 pad box and "just use the computer" :)

The Roland MV8800 was always my dream setup but it was discontinued just around the time I was looking into buying a sampler. I'm so glad I went with the AKAI rather than the MV as that obviously would never be updated and if it broke down....you know.
The MPC has been supported and updated/improved beyond my (and most peoples) dreams but we just need that last magic sprinkle to make it perfect.

so dudes should not be emotionally invested at the speculation stage of anything

isn't artistry being emotionally involved?

(and making speculations about this and that, taking a stand)

If people would do what they should do (reading manuals, not being dragged down a rabbit hole of rumors) it would be a lot more quiet and peaceful around here.

Once again, I wish there was a 'like' feature on forum posts!

i took a stand on 3.0 coming in winter namm 2024

if ur too emotionally involved in ur artistry u'll neva finish a beat; same thing with dre and the detox album am shure he was so emotionally attached to the idea of the album being better then 2001 that he could never settle on finishing the project.

there is a certain cut off where u just gotta let it go an move on to something else otherwise u end up with a back log of unfinished tracks/projects

if u wanna read the manual do u; people should do what they see fit not what u think they should be doing.

for some speculation is not a rabbit hole its just casual specualtion until we get confirmation

Anyone else have a total system freeze on 2.12.3 standalone after updating? I've never seen anything like it before. My key61 would play and stop and that's it, the screen is frozen and won't even power down. I've lost about 4 hours of work in the past 24 hours from random akai bugs. I only updated because last night it restarted itself in the middle of a session and I lost 3 hours of work then.
