files are named wrong on the standalone?

hi all.

any ideas why my files would be showing up like this on the MPC?
ive attached a photo of the same files on my computer for ref.

Well this is really weird. I don't think it has anything to do with data that is in the files, or around the files, it has to do with the names themselves. Are they saved with some strange character set? What happens if you copy and paste one of the names into a simple text editor?

did you get non ascii character sets in your file names?

i wouldn't be surprised at all if the new MPC's had no idea what to do with Kanjii :p

yep it was because some of them were in russian/korean/japanese/chinese etc.
have translated all the file names now and its fine.

Can you actually speak all those different languages?

You‘d rather learn these languages before you understand those unicode conventions

It's a computer, but Akai have chosen to only support certain cultures. I would probably have made similar decisions.

i18n would probably be a major undertaking for them to add in at this point. I am sure it would impact just about every bit of code and require massive retesting, and with all likelihood introduce plenty of fun bugs, regressions, and other issues. :/
