X has frozen once since updating and several times while loading. I have to hit “cancel” when it stalls on a file, then it keeps going, afterwards it’s fine, no issues.

Key61 hasn’t had any problems (yet?!)

My key61 would play and stop and that's it, the screen is frozen and won't even power down. I've lost about 4 hours of work in the past 24 hours from random akai bugs. I only updated because last night it restarted itself in the middle of a session and I lost 3 hours of work then.

I don't know if the shortcut is the same on the MPC, but I use save shortcut Shift+save often on the Force & i advise you to do the same on the MPC. We shouldn't have to deal with this but life ain't perfect. 4 hours of work is too long of a time to not had saved before that. Sorry for your lost.

Just happened again a second time. Same freeze. Won't power down. At least this time I've been saving consistently along the way.

I’ve definitely found this update less stable too - the activation issue has really ramped up, but also a couple of system freezes.

That has happened to me on MPC X at least once on almost every firmware.
Not enough to make me worry.

For me Key61 had severe teething problems in the beginning firmware. It hasn’t crashed or acted stupid in a really long time.

Actually now that I think about it I haven’t reset prefs which might help - it doesn’t bother me much either but it’s nice to have confidence in a machine running smoothly - the 4K for example was rock solid. There were some things it struggled to do but never crashed

You said "I" times in 1 sentence. WOW
So do think the world would better if everyone thought just like you?

People update for all kinds of reasons & if "nobody" updated then certain bugs wouldn't get fixed. Every update isn't about giving you a new feature, some is just bug fixes which sometimes creates a new bug, but that's part of the game. Yes should focus on bug fixes before they add any new feature, but even if the they did make a OS that was 90% bug free people would still need to test it & if everyone thought just like you....well

Maybe it would keep „them“ a little bit more careful about adding unfinished and/or nonsense features ? :hmmm:
Imho in MacOSX history there were only 2 releases worth keeping: Snow Leopard and Monterey... and Apple plays in a very different development league than InMusic.
The day I ruined my iPad2 was the day I „updated“ to IOS9, but opposed to MacOS there was no way back. :vomit:
My silver MPC Studio was a fair experience with Essentials 1.2 (on Snow Leopard), I tried half a dozen versions upward, all trashed because they just didn‘t add any more „essentials“.
(of course just imho)

I‘m not against bug fixes and updates, but developers should handle this with care.
Which they obviously don‘t do in the majority of cases.
They spill out features and create dependencies to secure funds, that‘s all about it

merry x-mas btw, don‘t take this too serious :smoker:

I don't get the point you're trying to make.
I was responding to someone asking why other people download every new upgrade. If you want to know why other people do what they do then you can't look at it from your own perspective as if everyone thinks like you or the fact that some didn't have a choice if they got an MPC with certain OS already on it etc...

I meant to say, yes they (Akai) should focus on bug fixes but even if they made an almost bug free OS someone will still need to update to test it out, but if we all thought like Jpeg & only upgraded when there desired features (I don't consider bugs a feature maybe he does) then nobody would download it.

Anyway it feels like however they coded this was doom from the get go. Like if multiple developers had a go at it, got fired or quit without explaining to the next team important information so the new team said **** it & did their own thing leaving us with a hot-mess of a OS that's still somehow 1 of the most powerful groove box ever.

Sorry about your silver MPC Studio experience. :(
