Heya! I'm having trouble getting program change msgs to pass thru the MPC one from the Computer to a hardware synth. My goal is to switch presets from the computer with the MPC as the middle man. But Even with 'Send MMC' checked in prefs, Program change msgs seem to stop with the MPC and are not passed on to the synth. :hmmm:
Looking at the midi data stream on the MPC I can see the MPC is receiving the PC changes including MSB and LSB data ok. But it will only send out the MSB and LSB minus the Program Change data.

Any help greatly appreciated please!

Umm, MMC has nothing at all to do with program change messages.

To do this, you will need to dedicate a track to this pass-thru channel, and set its monitor setting to In. Then click the filter button (can't remember the precise name) and set that to filter everything but program changes and controllers (CCs).

I've tried this now but Sadly I still can't get the MPC to forward Program Change msgs. :( (There is also no mention of PC msgs in the midi filter menu). I can see Program changes being received by the MPC's IN but they refuse to get sent back OUT again.

Has anyone out there managed to get Program Change msgs thru an MPC when using a MIDI controller input and a hardware synth output? I'm now concluding maybe it's not possible.. :hmmm: Thanks in advance for any help!

well if you look at the bottom of the Midi Prefs in the MPC, you'll see that the mpc seems to pass program changes thru a forced filter based on whatever that setting is set to.
not sure if there is a way to get a clean midi thru for PC.

According to midi specs an event is removed from the stream once it‘s recognized and only passed on if not. (iirc)
So the MPC may simply „consume“ the PC event because it „knows“ about PC.
(it doesn‘t matter if any action is associated with the event or not)
Maybe that „forced filter“ mentioned above will re-create the event to be passed on. :hmmm:
