Thinking about selling up, but need to consider some things...
1. Is it OK to pass on the MPC bible? Seeing as I won't need it anymore.
2. What do I do about Opx4 license? Can that be passed on with the MPC?
3. Do I need to deregister the MPC from my account? Didn't notice any way of doing so.

Thanks for your advice.

1. That's a question you need to direct towards Tutor, but I didn't think that was transferrable. Could be wrong, though.
2. If you want to hold on to the OPX4 license, then you need to log out of your InMusic account on your Live 2 and release all registered plugins on it before selling. As for "passing" plugins that you bought to them, you'll have to reach out to Akai/InMusic support about transferring licenses. No clue if they have a system setup for that or not.
3. InMusic/Akai currently doesn't have any way to de-register hardware from your account.

thanks for your reply.
1. Yeah I guessed I'd need Tutor to respond to that one.
2. I forgot that this is a vst too, so actually, I'll keep that.
3. Ok wasn't sure if id missed something.

I've just thought, if the MPC stays registered to me, that means I can still use all the software seeing as I can't pass it on?

Think of your MPC as “just another computer”. Your licenses are tied to it as long as you’re logged in to your InMusic/Akai account on it. That’s the plugins. As for your InMusic account, you have sole ownership over that. And anything tied to it.

You’re just selling your MPC (the computer). Not anything else.

That's good news for the seller, but a bit shitty for the buyer who then doesn't get to have all that software!

Thanks for your help :)

well, you know what I'm saying though, the buyer doesn't get the free mpc software. Which may or may not put them off?!

Just to clarify, as per the legal text on the first page of the book, the MPC Bible license is not transferrable and cannot be re-sold. Sorry, unlike normal software I don't have any way to control licenses (e.g. ilok etc), so once people start making copies of my book and including it as a sweetener in hardware sales, ebay auctions etc, the floodgates open and soon people are just openly selling copies of the book (which has happened on Ebay).

That fine, I understand. You put an immense amount of work into that book so I get it and respect your decision. I won't pass it on. Tbh, if the MPC software remains mine to use, then I may still use it from time to time meaning the MPC bible may still be required, so it's not a total loss.
Thanks for clearing it up.

The buyer will get the MPC software , they will be able to register the serial on your unit . The same serial will exist on yours and the new owners account.

This includes anything that comes with the unit from the factory nothing else you paid for separately will be included though.

I bought a used One to use in controller mode and it registered just fine and gave me another license.

OK so the new buyer will get the MPC software. Does that mean it will be removed from my account? I suppose I'm better off asking them direct. But if anyone has any knowledge on this it would be helpful, thanks.

Ask them direct. Getting “public opinion” from a random forum is not the best approach.
