Dub Techno MPC Live?

You mean the chord stabs? Make your own. There's about 1000 different YouTube videos on them, you can do it with a couple of basic saw waves and a short envelope. Then just play chords. First patch I made when I got my Prophet Rev 2 heh.

Or just get a Korg M1 and use the piano preset everyone else did back then.

maybe in the next update we will see some preset packs for the built in synths that cover dub techno and other styles.

but in th emeantime all the synths built in to mpc can do these type sounds

I would imagine Jura is probably killer for it too. The P5 is the 'classic' Basic Channel chord stabs, but the Juno does them pretty awesome too.

Air delay pro is just fit for the job with plenty of mod options. As for synths...just stack a couple of single cycles with a LP filter envelope and a modulated LP effect and you are set

the one thing that will be very useful to you in using the mpc live for dub techno (other than the already mentioned delay effects) is the pretty good mixer it has, plenty of rouging to be made, you have four send\return busses which are accessible at pad and track level, each of them can host a chain of up to 4 effects, you have 8 busses you can use to group stuff or to route single sounds to,plus you have 4 insert effects both at single pad,track , bus and master level. it is solid and very clever for different routing and processing needs.

Doesn't the delay have a feedback control already? That's all that 'trick' is used for, it's just a little easier to overload the delay and get big washes out of it. Just turn up the feedback or repeats on the delay itself when you need that.

every delay has a feedback (or repeat) parameter, no?
this is specifically creating a (manual) feedback loop to be able to dial in send amount on the delay return

well, unfortunately i don't think so... you don't have aux sends on return channels, and you can only send to said return channels, not to normal channels. of course you can do some magic by physically routing a couple of unused outputs back to the inputs and then arm an audio track, put the delay on it and use it's aux send, but no way to do it internally i'm afraid.

The free multitap delay in the latest free update allows you to route the internal delay to itself. So I guess problem solved?

Couldn't resist an MPC dub techno thread. It's the style i like doing the most.
Multitap delay is interesting but i don't find it easy setting the various taps delay times. I'll have to look up for online tutorials to understand the delay time percentages. I'm not good at instant delay mathematics.

Did Akai / AIR provide more information in a separate manual ? The MPC manual has very little information about the multitap delay.

Delay pro really is instant dubtechno for me.
I wish i got the MPC X instead of the One when i got my MPC, multiple inputs/outputs would be great fun to use external effects.

I like using the Mini-D for the basslines. The feedback option can get just a little grit on a triangle wave bass sound.

Try looking on Air's site for more a better manual.

Don't feel bad, I've been using them for almost 30 years now and still don't understand how to use a 'multi-tap' delay hahaha. All I need is a single delay line set to a triplet or a dotted note and its dub city..

The 'Tape Delay' in it is a model of an Akai Headrush, that will get you right there.

you can expand I/O on the MPC by adding a usb audio interface. much cheaper than buying the X
