ok so if u think that mpc forums is not a mostly hip hop production crowd gibe me some percentages;
what percent of producers on mpc forums do u think make techno?
what percent do u think makes house?
what percent makes drum and bass?
what percentage make jungle?
and what percent makes hip hop?
then what percent makes other?

again I would suggest prolly at least 50% of producers on here are primarily hip hop; tho they may dabble in other styles but I am suggesting that most of guys on here got into production were prolly from a hip hop back ground

You can suggest that probably 50% or more are hip hop, but it can easily be suggested that your "statistic" is probably not accurate at all in 2024. Indeed, it might have been mostly hip-hop heads 20+ years ago, but things are a lot different now. In reality, there is no way of knowing what the background is of the majority of active users here. Keep in mind, while there may be thousands upon thousands of forum members here (only Tutor has those stats), there's less than a few hundred that are active on here at any given time. So any poll might be... well.. sort of useless. Though I would be interested in knowing what everyone's preferred genre background is.

Full disclosure: I'm not a hip-hop head; I'm an everything genre. But even I'm stoked about stem separation in standalone mode.

House n00b here - I don't get anywhere near hip-hop, I like my sounds clean and certainly not with vinyl noises added like I've been flabbergasted to see in the "flavour" section of Fabric patches... And I enjoy stem separation to pilfer the vocals of old African pop songs !

About the file format debate: just because one enjoys sounds distorted, noisy, bitcrushed or even with mp3 compression artefacts artificially added (yes, that exists - whatever floats your boat) doesn't mean that one doesn't want those alterations perfectly preserved by a lossless format !

That question needs it's own thread & is not something I assume to know like you, which is your problem.
Now if 50% (which may not be the same thing as "most" depending how the other 50% is split up) is into Hip-Hop that's proving my point not yours & why the hate this feature is getting by some here by that % of ppl that's not into it. My point still stands.

We were talking about you and your idiotic assumption that hip-hop and sampling in general is based solely on taking sounds and beats from other peoples music and 'transforming' it into something else. Please try to keep up if you're going to try to engage in a conversation with the adults. But then again, if you are already so blind and sheltered that you assume EVERY single MPC user must only make hip-hop, there's probably not much hope.

i will also repeat my point for the hard of thinking; ur point regarding sampling other poples music implies that u look down on that process of sampling old records to make music; so do u also look down on the production of legends such as premo, dre and dilla who have made amazing music using that method of sampling other peoples music, very simple question that u are trying to duck.

Also I did not say everyone on mpc forums made hip hop; i just said that it likely that most of the mpc forums guys make hip hop currently or come from a hip hop background and moved into other generes, to clarify the point which u are struggling with.
