Program change/list edit question.

Hi.

I'm trying to insert program changes into a midi track with the list edit but it always gives me 2 of 'kin things. I can't delete the first one on beat 1 but if I delete the 2nd one, both go. How do I insert a single program change on beat 3 of bar 7 in an 8 bar sequence? ( I did a search in the excellent MPC Bible on the phrase 'program change' but no results).

If you insert a program change somewhere in the sequence, the MPC will also put one at the beginning of the sequence, there is nothing you can do about it.

I interpret your answer as this is the way it always has worked? Please do not tell me this is true

To me it sounds like a HUGE bug. Can someone enlighten me about why anyone ever would have use for this behaviour?

If I want to add a program change in the middle of a sequence, I surely never ever would want to also add one (undeletable) program change at the beginning for no reason what so ever?

Is there a workaround to get around this unphantomable behaviour?

Not just a program change by the way - any automation, as mentioned by Elijah in that other current thread about Program Change.

And, as I said there, this has long annoyed me... Initial values can be useful - but then I can insert them... Or at least let me delete them !

Just chiming in again. This issue with duplicate program change messages being added has been acknowledged as a bug by AKAI support.

They have created a bug report for the development team. But as usual the fix can can be implemented ranging from the next firmware update to a firmware update years from now.
