When I first enter Sample Edit on my MPC One it defaults to the PROGRAM mode being selected, and the issue I'm finding is that I'll change the sample from the dropdown while in this mode and without realizing it I've now changed the sample set to the pad that's currently selected, so when I play my track back the wrong sample is being triggered and I have to try and find the correct sample and reassign it. Is there a way to prevent the samples from being changed to different pads when in Sample Edit mode, or to default to TRIM mode being selected instead of PROGRAM?

The issue is you’re trying to select the sample you’re working on using the drop down menu in the edit page. That drop down menu is exclusively for selecting samples to be assigned to whatever pad you’re on. You want to be pressing the corresponding pad when in sample edit, to select that pad and thus, that sample for editing. So again the drop down is for assigning samples to the pad you’ve selected. If you hit a pad, and it’s not the sample you wanted to edit, you need to hit the correct pad that does have that sample, NOT utilizing the drop down. So the logic is that once you’ve hit/selected a pad, that drop down just changes the sample for that pad, so to edit a different sample, hit a different pad. I hope I understood your problem and that this helps.
