first sampler was st-224 ( should of got the korg es-1 or mpc xl instead)

2nd sampler sp505 ( wish i got the 303 instead but wanted the screen, 303 looked better then the 505)

3rd sampler korg esx-1 ( one of the best samplers ever had had synth like sample mangling; only sold due to restricted mute groups and lack of unqunatised sequencer, but great sound and filters)

4th sampler mpc100 ( good machine but uninspiring, jjos saved the machine; as akai os was horrible)

machine ( had mk1 and mk2 great controllers at the time easiest workflow)

s950 ( got this off ebay to add some lofi but did not get along with it and it broke shortly after)

korg es2 ( amazing sounding sampler; with awesome built in synths)

mpc live ( the goat combo of workflow and features)

teenage engineering op-1 ( never got on with the unit great idea with the tape and some of the synths but i could not gel with it)

sp404 ( great sound and fx but sequencer i dont jive with so looking to sell and get mk2, but think mk1 look better)

mpc 200 xl (got for nostalgia never really used it as could not go back to that screen after the mpc live)

s2400 ( had indulge my sp1200 inner urge and this is a wonderful sounding unit; best ever had, defo retro boutique luxury sampler)

the only samplers i currently have are the live, 404, 2400, op-1 and 200xl; I plan to sell the 200xl, op-1 and the 404.

I intend to buy the ep-133 and the sp404 mk2

2016 - Maschine Mikro
2016 - ASR 10 (which soon developed issues and semi retired…)
2017 - MPC 2000XL
2021 - SP-12
2021 - S900
2024 - managed to revive the ASR 10

Still got all my pieces as it’s been a slow evolutionary upgrade, with each purchase being used extensively and helping to figure out the next purchase. They all still get used to varying degrees - SP/ASR/900 combo currently getting mad use :smoker:

90's...
Yamaha SU10 (lost to time)
ASR-X (never Figured it out) (Lost to time)

2019-2024
Akai Force
MPC Live 1 (sold)
MPC LIve 2 Retro
MPC X OG
Roland MV 8000
Akai S01
Akai S3000XL
Roland MS-1
Roland SP-404 mk2

Im a deal bandit...if I see a super cheap price I can stop myself... but I'm getting over it these days. I declined to purchase a MPC 2000 classic for $180 (only needed a screen replacement) because I figured I had that sound covered already with the S3000XL

My Favorites in mid 2024 are MPC X and Surprisingly AKAI S01

From my limited Experience if you want "Character" in your sampler anything made after 1996-ish is too clean for me to notice.

Im Hunting for a good 8-bit machine from late 80's early 90's then i'm done for the foreseeable future.

UNLESS there is a DEAL! :smh:

IF Pioneer DJ(Alpha Theta) releases a DJS-1000MK2 or a Toraiz SP-16 MK2- its an INSTANT buy for me!! I just sold my S2400 for the Toraiz SP-16 because of the super easy workflow on the Pioneer DJ samplers!

Update: After careful consideration, I decided not to buy Teenage Engineering's funky calculator. I'm going to stick with what I have until Behringer releases their two new samplers...

Appreciate your input! Now that MPC 3.0 is around the corner, I'm also considering the MPC Key 37. The UI improvements, disk streaming & arranger mode seem dope! I haven't touched an MPC since the REN on 1.0. I'm hoping the workflow has been greatly improved by now!!
