Heres how it works:

Create a folder on your disk called ' Plugin Expansions' and paste your presets inside this.

Preset folders must use the following folder structure (OPx4 shown as the example):

AIR Music Technology - MPC - OPx-4 > Preset Banks > Your Preset Pack Name > your presets

So basically use the existing plugin folder name from 'Synths' to ensure correct mapping.

Presets must be named as follows:

number-group-preset name.xpl

e.g:

004-Bass-Fat Bass.xpl

Presets appear in the plugin with their own dedicated group (using the 'Preset Pack Name' folder name).

Probably requires a minimum firmware version to work, I have it working on 2.12.2

I assume this will also work with internally installed plugins such as Drumsynth.

So should it go:

Plugin Expansions - AIR Music Technology - MPC - OPx-4 > Preset Banks > Your Preset Pack Name > your presets

:hmmm:

The instructions make no mention of a "Preset Expansion" folder.

MPC-Tutor wrote:Actually, it does seems like something like this could be possible now, as I can't believe they would release an OP4X preset pack that can't be installed on the two MPCs that have OPX4 installed as standard.

Actually, unlike expansions which can be installed without any checks on the software side, plugin presets will have SKU number and will be checked for a license (?). I'm pretty sure I have seen something regarding preset licensing in the firmware. Will have to fire up my Ghidra to properly check it.

EDIT:
here we go - I knew I've seen it

Do Fabric XL presets become available in the regular Fabric plugin in standalone do we think? Like, I've never noticed anything that makes a preset "XL" in the settings other than which plugin you choose to make active on a track

Well whattya' know - I must have been napping as well!

The "XL" specific presets allegedly have more samples and take up more RAM, so I'd imagine you'd have to use XL specifically for those. Unless they also include some scaled down version for regular "Fabric"? Beats me. I just discovered these Expansions exist about 2 minutes ago. *EDIT - the YouTube video shows that Expansion being demo'd in regular Fabric, so apparently it works in both!

So... Urban Heat *and* OPx-4 Pro both need to have a license to "work" (ie load) on your system. Which is pretty bung if you ask me. Urban Heat is now loading, but the OPx-4 Pro presets keep getting hung up on a screen that says "Checking for plugin preset expansion license."

For whatever reason, the Marco Polo presets don't *seem* to show up for me in the browser, but I was able to tap the folder icon by the preset name and get it to load... but it does seemed to have done another license check.

Will reboot and see if the OPx-4 will pass the license check afterwards *shrug*

Did you first install them on your desktop and authorize them from the desktop software? No clue if that's how it's supposed to work, but I'll try that later. I won't be in the studio unil 6-7 hours from now.

When you buy Fabric XL Expansion, you will get all of the samples required for "max version" so I suppose it includes presets for regular version that loads only half of the samples.

Half the presets?? :hmmm: Or all of them but taking up half the RAM?

Half the samples, the pack is intended fo Fabric XL but normal fabric loads only half of them via separate set of preset files that are included with the preset pack.

Right, so the exact same number of presets for both Fabric XL and regular Fabric, just using half the samples for regular Fabric. Sorry - your initial post was a bit confusing. Just wanted to be sure.
