I just don't get it, the MPC has seen an endless stream of HUGE updates since then, massive features added, many of those updates warranted more than being called just a boring 'point' update. We don't need a '3.0' release as we've already had so much more added to the MPC since 2019, it's effectively already on a 3.0 or even a 4.0 incarnation.
It's utterly baffling that people are so obsessed with the version numbering that they forget just how much stuff has actually been added in the meantime. Surely that's all that matters, not some arbitrary numbering system? Who cares what version number they give each release, it's internal referencing or just marketing.
What people really mean when they say 'I want 3.0' is that they want disk streaming and a linear arranger, as they don't think it's possible for Akai to release either of those things without having to go through all the hoopla of making a big grand 3.0 release as well.
We're at the point where Akai are just going to release 2.14 with stems as a 3.0, just to shut people up. Then people will just start pontificating about 4.0.
Seriously, as I've said before, it seems like Akai have just moved beyond this idea, we're at the point where they can just start drip feeding new features and charging extra $$$ per feature.
