Looks like, as far as Akai is concerned, either spelling is acceptable:

that marketing blurb is cheesy asf; defo made to appeal to the youtubers/influencers, newbies

the sampleing artform is not known as crate digging; how could they get that wrong, crate digging is strictly about digging for vinyl.

the name checking of premo and alchemist just made it all the more cheese.

they prolly got one of these newbie influencers to write the sales blurb for them; and its in these instances i see why forums hate these youtubers.

cos lotta dem dont know shit, but they getting paid and they are called influencer;s but prolly started making beats in the past 2/3 years.

meanhwhile people on this forum is 10 or 20 years deep but we have no influence; but i gues we did not jump on the bandwagon of youtube quicj enuff or just recluses.

SuperKonquer wrote:I personally don't care about the numbering system. What I've wanted from the start is independent timelines for Midi Tracks. I could live without MIDI clips which I would love but I've wanted independent timelines per track before the Force was even released. So with prior fabled merging of Force's features, every new fangled updates frustrates me when Akai chooses not to add functional features that users have wanted and they have already programmed but they choose for whatever reason not to add it to the MPC line. I mean, give us the vertical mixer already and stop playing with us.

verticle mixer is presumed to be a 3.0 feature

I can remember when they released the MPC 1000 with basically an unfinished OS. If it wasn’t for JJOS the MPC1000 never would have reach it’s full potential. Akai basically abandoned the 500, and to me it always feels like they could have gotten much more out of that little machine, but just didn’t.

I can remember when I bought the first MPC Studio when the Software was just a little bit deeper and at the same time not as powerful yet as JJOS2XL. The added Akai plugin and FX was the big step up.

I can remember when I came back from my beatmaking hiatus and saw what 2.0 was capable of in Standalone mode. Shortly after the first FREE instruments and Air FX were implemented. Akai has done so much more in such a short time. (Unfortunately this lead to more bugs, and again unfinished features)

I admit, things are not perfect and probably never will be. But the MPC platform could have been so, and so much worse than what it is today. And compared to what we had with Stems/STEMS on the way, the current OS version easily could have been a 3.something.

Had to come here to the forum to check this out, having just seen the Akai YouTube video. Says in to check the web site, which I did, and could find no mention of it.
I'm not an MPC purist nor hard core Hip Hop producer and this would appeal to me on many levels. In fact if it were not for all the "YouTube Influencers" I would never have bought an MPC in the first place. Glad I did so Thank You to all the "YouTube Influencers". When the first MPC came out back in the '80's I'd been playing guitar for 20 years and that's what I did. I well remember this guy in the music shop saying how his first reaction was "Oh NO! now everything is going to sound exactly the same" followed shortly after by his awe at just how different and varied everything he was hearing produced on MPCs was.
I just bought a snare drum stand for my Live2, which also works with my Force, for solo live playing. Way cool I can have my MPC/Force reachable while standing in front of a mic with my guitar. Can play in drum loops etc live so stems would be a great addition. Especially if they could be made foot switchable via midi foot pedal.

And why not talk about the MPCs that this incarnation of Akai were actually responsible for, starting at the MPC1000 but encompassing iconic classics like the MPC Fly and MPC Element.

God damn the truth hurts like a mother **** but it sure is funny as hell!

he did say its expected this year; he said it war orinally expected in march but stems pushed it back;

so maybe they was initially saving stems for 3.0 but then decided it offer it sperately in paid modular format; as maybe that generate more money for them if they can extract the popoular 3.0 features and offer them out picemeal

Where did he say this in that video? I can’t be arsed to watch an entire 45 minute video by some YT “influencer”. General time within 5-10 minutes would be helpful and I’ll find it.

I just don't get it, the MPC has seen an endless stream of HUGE updates since then, massive features added, many of those updates warranted more than being called just a boring 'point' update. We don't need a '3.0' release as we've already had so much more added to the MPC since 2019, it's effectively already on a 3.0 or even a 4.0 incarnation.

It's utterly baffling that people are so obsessed with the version numbering that they forget just how much stuff has actually been added in the meantime. Surely that's all that matters, not some arbitrary numbering system? Who cares what version number they give each release, it's internal referencing or just marketing.

What people really mean when they say 'I want 3.0' is that they want disk streaming and a linear arranger, as they don't think it's possible for Akai to release either of those things without having to go through all the hoopla of making a big grand 3.0 release as well.

We're at the point where Akai are just going to release 2.14 with stems as a 3.0, just to shut people up. Then people will just start pontificating about 4.0.

Seriously, as I've said before, it seems like Akai have just moved beyond this idea, we're at the point where they can just start drip feeding new features and charging extra $$$ per feature.

why are u so against the notion of a 3.0? u have a very negative view of it;u mentioned that it may lead to bugs, all software will have some bugs, maybe 3.0 will have less then current.

yes much has been added but its been dont in bolt on fashion and perhaps to get better performance out of the software/ and the current hardware line it needs to be written from ground up.

hence perhaps why they trialed the new optimised apporoach to OS with the force; so now they are better informed at producings the most streamlined software then can support upcomming features such as stems, and whatever future updates are coming.

3.0 was purported to be a system overhaul i wlecome the progress; while i acknowledge they have come along way with features, its interesting to see what new vistas could be opened with a fresh OS, surely everyone should welcome this, and those who are not interested they can just choose not to upgrade.

for example im currently running version 2.12.2 each time i turn on my live it prompts me to upgrade and i just say no, cos there is nothing in the new update im interested in and it currently works fine for how i use the live.

Guys, I bow to you all in your abilities with the MPC, and as an old home doodler who still thinks of the MPC as a modern replacement for my TEAC reel to reel, I’ve learned so much from the forum, but really … seventeen pages of speculation and counter-speculation and what has been resolved - nowt, nada, zilch. There’s nothing to see here, please move along and get back to the great support you all provide for dumplings like me on the tech as it is, not what you would like it to be.

Anyone who has managed backlog for a software product will tell you that overhaul of a mature product with mostly content users will never happen, especially on the tail end of a product lifecycle.

On the other hand, setting a small fraction of resources aside from new feature development to keep a small but steady stream of dealing with minor irritants that are easy fixes maintains buyer's trust, so I'm hopeful for marginal quality of life improvements.

Not sure how much more clear I have to be, so I'll try to say it in slightly different words.

I'm against the obsession some people have that Akai must still make a big grand '3.0' release, despite several years of continually releasing a stream of rather large updates, many of which would have easily been worthy of a '3.0' release. If you asked someone back in 2019 whether the inclusion of plugins and audio midi interface support would have been '3.0' worthy, they would have bitten your hand off.

As I said, it's really not about people wanting a '3.0' as such, it more about people wanting disk streaming and the arranger (and possibly the tie in with the mythical 'gen 2 hardware'). They just seem to expect these features can only come with some kind of a '3.0' release, but that clearly no longer the case, Akai can just release any of these features at any time, possibly as another $$ unlock and just use whatever version numbers they feel like.

None of this obsession with version numbers matters when you have a company already continually releasing regular big updates. Seriously, it's not like Akai are sitting on their hands is it? Every time I see people moaning about the lack of 3.0 they just come across as a bit delusional considering everything we've seen added since the 2019 '3.0' post from Dan Gill.

So yes, everything about '3.0' winds me up and I will continue to get wound up about it until Akai just go ahead and release 'a' 3.0 just to shut people up (yeah, like that will work  )
