Pad perform

Hello
I’m trying to use a one shot bass sample and use that on pad perform for note variations…however….the sample isn’t playing when I access pad perform?
What am I doing wrong ?

Turn the one shot into a keygroup. Select keygroup program, program edit, choose the one shot sample, select the root note of sample Boom you’re good to go

I think I’ve done that……no joy

Try to give us more info if you can. Is the sample converted to a keygroup program or not?

I’ve loaded bass sample on the drum program and pressed key group……no sound

Keygroup programs and drum programs are not the same. If you quickly want to play a bass one shot from a drum program, you could use 16 LEVELS mode. Otherwise, creating a keygroup program is the way to go.

Lol get your head around how programs and keygroups work first! If you load the sample into a drum program then select keygroups for that track, you're effectively selecting a completely different preset, even if it's a blank one.

You want to load the sample into a keygroup not a drum program. Drum programs are for drums where each pad plays a different sample. Keygroups are for playing one or more samples over the keyboard range, melodically.

Essentially those six buttons select the type of track you want to make. Drum, plugin, keygroup, etc. I only use those three, but read the MPC bible or manual to understand more about how it all works. It helped me understand a great deal as I was a newbie to mpc world!
