MPC KEY 37 where is the damned battery ?

But why didn't they put a battery? Even optional, detachable.
No SSD bay, no microphone input, low RAM, few plugins, etc... all that I want to close my eyes, but damn!

You missed the opportunity to release a best seller without any rival on the market.

Glueing the mpk mini keybed to the mpc one plus was not difficult, nor a bad idea, but you had to go to the end... Were you afraid of crushing mpc live 2 sales?

Maybe that's the answer...

I have an mpc live 2, internal 1Tb SSD, coupled with an arturia microlab. Honestly I would have sold it to buy a key 37 with battery.

Maybe it's not too late to release a detachable battery mounting kit on the mpc key 37, even with slight modification... :)

Capitalism suggests they'll save the battery for an MK2. As for the other features, they still need reasons for people who want those to step-up and spend more on a Key61. For example, there's lots of physical space on the Key61 that could've meant things like more outputs and more Q-link knobs. But they need to keep reasons for people who want that to step-up and spend more on an MPC X SE. If you make one product from your line have everything, then you're also stifling the sales of everything else in the line-up at the same time. It's just profit strategies and Akai is good at it.

Yes installing my own detachable battery is an option.
I had a conversation with a YouTuber who had made a video review of the mpc key 37. It emerged that it is a device that already weighs a certain amount, and with dimensions that mean that it is ultimately not really portable. In photos or videos, it appears small and compact, but in reality it seems that it is more suited to the studio. I was stupidly a little upset because I imagined an mpc live 2 with a keyboard, which would have been great (instead of speakers which are not essential). But ultimately after reflection, the size of the mpc key 37, with a battery, would make it even less easily transportable. In short, at Akai they have people who must create new products without overshadowing others... which is understandable. And of course leave room to create improved versions in the future. Business is business... The mpc live 2 combined with a mini keyboard (arturia microlab type) remains the best solution for portability. Too bad the microlab doesn't have wheels and after touch.

People are stuck on this battery shyt when some gear isn’t as portable, small, light weight as they might think.

Some don’t mind carryIng around that extra weight tho.

Some want the battery in the studio, idkw, don’t care to know why.

I wouldn’t care for a battery with this thing. It doesn’t seem very portable

Now. A One with a battery would be the shit. Or just reissue the OG live. Live2 is a bit too big to be traveling with all the time

A battery is a nice idea, but how often is it used in the live 2. So it becomes an issue of the extra cost of a battery, raising the price and making it less desirable for some that don't need it vs not having a batter and making it more cost effective. With the EU making it law to make batteries replicable by the end user for portable devices coming in 2027.

It would be great though to see Battery sections provided like on the old laptops, where the battery was integrated, but unclipped externally . They could then provide an MPC with no batter, sell a battery as an optional extra, and those that need longer run times, can by a spare back up.

People will always find something they want or don’t want regardless of what they do.

You even have people upset you can’t delete stuff they’re not using from the device without causing issues.

At the end of the day, the horse is already out of the barn. Send a suggestion to Akai.
