I'm having an extremely odd issue where even though I have ALL MY MPC X PROJECTS in the exact same folder stored on the same SSD, tons of songs won't load properly. For example. There are some that I load up and everything works perfectly fine. All the data is there, the songs plays, the volumes are where I left them, the automation is there etc. But then there's A TON of projects I've made over the last few years of owning my X that do nothing when loading them into MPC BEATS (DAW). The sounds/samples are still in the project, but the sequence says "UNUSED" and the track where a sample/plugin should be playing audio also says "UNUSED." These are projects I've produced on my MPC X in Standalone mode! None of these projects were made with the MPC Beats software. I can open every single one of these projects without any problems in STANDALONE mode with my MPC. I'm able to open maybe 30% of them in MPC BEATS and they work perfectly as they should. But there's a good 60% of the projects I have that are acting like they are brand new beats that I only dropped in samples for, but never created patterns/sequences and there are NO NOTES on any of the projects/songs that have this issue! This is driving me crazy! HELP? :hmmm:

One other thing I have to mention. Despite producing hundreds of projects on my MPC X in the last several years, I'm a newbie when it comes to using the MPC BEATS DAW. I'm very familiar with FL Studio, and DAWS in general, but haven't messed with MPC BEATS hardly at all. I also wanted to point out that it seems like none of the newer tracks I've made in the past 6 months are working. The projects that seem to open up just fine are the ones from previous updates. I'm currently on 2.12.3 (pretty sure..) but prior to grabbing the newest firmware update, I had been on update 2.09 ish? Mostly because I didn't use my X for a couple years. Hoping this information may shine light onto what's possibly going on? All the project data folders are in the same location stored on my SAMSUNG SSD external drive.

MPC Beats is a limited version of the MPC Software, it's not meant to be used with standalone MPCs (it's bundled with MPK controllers). Over the years Akai have made changes to the core MPC project structure and the MPC Software contains the code required to convert the older style projects into the newer ones. MPC Beats probably doesn't contain this code.

1) if you haven't already done so, head over to akaipro.com and register your MPC X serial.
2) After, click on the MPC X entry in your account and under 'downloads' you'll find the MPC Software installer and an activation code
3) Install everything, run the software, enter the activation code.

Your old 2.09 projects should load fine into the MPC Software. If for some reason they still don't then you might have to temporarily downgrade to an older MPC Software version and try again (try 2.10). Also you could try loading the 2.09 projects into 2.13 on your standalone MPC X and re-save them there first.

But the MPC Software should be capable of loading any older project, even those made on 1.x. If it no longer does this then it's a new bug (hence the suggestion to temporarily downgrade as it definitely used to convert without issue)

Thanks for the replies! This is the first time I checked back on the site but I ultimately ended up finding out that the software for the MPC BEATS on my DAW was still on update 2.09. My MPC X on the other hand was on the current update 2.13.2 (or similar) and apparently that was causing all sorts of trouble opening projects. I'm kind of confused as to why though? I thought you could take old projects from older gen MPCs and easily pull up your projects in MPC BEATS?

But you cannot load a new style 2.13 project in a very old version of the software. Just update to the latest version of the mpc software and always keep the same version on standalone
