Chord progression scales

Hi. For some reason my pad perform settings always seem to reset to C Major, I'm not sure if this is a known bug or something I'm doing wrong?

But because of this I've got a track with some unusual chord progressions I want to add to ad I've forgotten what scale it's in. Is there a quick way to figure it out. The manual fiddling around with the scale trying yo match the chords is making me go insane

Unfortunately you can’t save your scale in Pad Perform. It automatically defaults to C major when powering down. I name the track or program or sequence partly after the scale I use for the song.

Thanks thought that might be the case. It's really annoying but I will write it down in future.

How do I reverse engineer though some unusual chords in midi to a scale though?

I use melodyne to find scale and key if I can’t detect myself. I got a free version years ago but I’m sure there are other software that can tell you

And I also label tracks/programs the scale and key.

Scaler 2 is pretty good for this as well

In the long run the best way to figure out a scale really is to use your ear. Most people accustomed to modern music have the ability to hear scales but because they may not have training in music theory can't quantify what their brains already innately knows.

Even if your scale is in C major, you can create any scale that you desire in a progression. Progression mode does not know what key or scale it is actually in. It is only transposing your original notes up or down a semitone. With this, you can have your progression listed a C major but it could actually be in some other scale or key.

I believe it's supposed to save the last used pad perform settings within the actual project file itself, but this only seems to be half working. It remembers the scale, but not the key. I tested with a project saved with pad perform of Eb Lydian and the Lydian was remembered, but the key went to A. I find that 'A' is the default key in standalone, C is the default key in the MPC Software.

I'll submit a bug report for this, fairly sure at some point it was remembering the saved key and scale
