here's a good question......?

i have a beat. 4 bars. problem is the begining of the 4 bar loop really starts on 001.03.00, instead of on the '1' (001.01.01). that's how i built it. my bad, cuz now when i try and play the strings for a full 4 bars, it gets cut off b4 the loop is over(001.01.01) because my loop ends late. how can i remedy this problem?

copy the sequence twice, so it's 3 times the bar length, then shift the timing 3 x 96 ticks (96 = one beat) then delete the first 4 bars and the last 4 bars.

I think that's how I do it, I forget sometimes cuz it's been a while.

What I would do if this loop was a single sample is record it playing. Then resample that recording & edit it so it starts on 001.01.01

on this subject sometimes when making a house beat I use a 2 bar loop programme my beat then mess about. Then sometimes I'll get a good 1 bar loop but it will be at the end of the 2bar loop if you get me. eg.

02.01.00 how can I get hold of the last bar, I know you can truncate it into a one bar loop but it is the last bar I am after.??

Any idea much appreciated.

Thanks

elma-

ure onto something, what it is i'm not quite sure....but it sounds like something that may work. does anyone else have any ideas? say you ARE NOT using samples, you're using a sound module, and you've made a 4 bar percussion loop. now you're trying to put some strings on there but you made your drums loop start on the 2 instead of the 1......and it was a perfect take. can u move it to the 1??

Well did you try it? Cos that $hit Elma was spitting sounded like it would work. i can't see how that can fail actually.

i get lost at shift the timing 3X96. i don't see what the timing has to do with it.

yes this works, I used to do it all the time when I wouldn't watch the counter.

basically, to get your stuff to start on the 1, you first need it to start at the beginning of the nearest bar behind it. so you can delete the bars before the part that you want exactly, since you can only delete straight bars, not portions of them (that I know of???) So you go to shift timing, and move the beginning of the part you want back to the nearest bar, so if it starts at 2.02, move it back one tick, each tick is 96 in the shift timing screen, so to move 2.02 back to 2.01 you shift earlier 96. Using a 2 bar sequence to start, copied twice gives you 6 bars.

You put a copy in front because if you only copy once, then the part you have at say 3.04 is moved back, say to 3.03, and nothing is pulled back into 3.04,because it is the end of the sequence, and the beginning does not get pulled backwards. so you end up with silence there, messing up your pattern. So you copy the pattern twice, and you keep the middle section. So what is at 4.01 gets pulled back into 3.04 and you get no silence.

The you trim the excess, delete bar 1, and bars 4 - 6 and bars 2 and 3 have your original sequence starting on the one, after the deletion, those are the only bars so they are now bars 1 and two.

I've done this since early on, once I tried it without the copying and the silence and incomplete pattern let me know what I had to do.

The 60 teaches many things.

I would say to move the loop to the very beginning of the 4 bars, and then just adjust the tempo. You really shouldn't even have to adjust it very much for the amount of time that you say it is off by.

if it is just one loop, hewll resequence it, but if you got like 8 tracks of stuff going on and when you hit playstart it doesn't start at the beginning, do what I suggested.
