Mpc stems out now

UVR is definitely a step up from plain Demucs. For example the de-reverb capability is superb.

Yeah UVR actually has almost 30 different demucs models to work with. I suggest having a look at the mdx models as well.

It can all be time consuming so what I'll do is utilize multiple models, and then check the invidual wavs to see what sounds right to me.

Why isn't stems fixed yet? I payed and it's not showing up in, inmusic nor the mpc desktop software..I followed the exact instructions a bunch of times still nothing

So far I've found "MDX23C-InstVoc HQ" to give the best results for vocals/instruments splitting, better than the default htdemucs I had been using with Demucs. It's much slower for me but worth the extra waiting. YMMV. The GUI makes trying different models very easy, so now I'm trying many things I hadn't bothered to look at before.

One thing I particularly like is, you can configure de-reverbing as an addition to splitting, which I almost always want as well. And it remembers this setting, so it will produce the deverbed versions as well every time. Very handy.

Would love to see someone make a video using Ultimate Vocal Remover.

Akai STEMs seems to be really depend on the quality of the source material.
Was pleasantly surprised with drop and drag results with it assigning the elements to different pads.
Had been using RIPx in the past but it would sometimes do weird things to the vocals.

STEMs processes the files a lot faster than I anticipated but it makes me wonder how well standalone will be able to deal with it compared to modern computers?
Hopefully it will be somewhat similar.

All the Stems hype has led me to RipX now I'm hooked on RipX lol Stems is cool but RipX is crazy

I see Akai's promo videos feature stems in standalone mode. When is that dropping?

Does the computer you are using to run UVR have a Nvidia GPU in it? If so, you can actually set it to run the process thru the GPU instead of cpu processing.

The time involved is way different. As I mentioned on here at some point, say I took a 3 minute song in FLAC/WAV format, if I tried to run any demucs model through my 8x Ryzen, it could take upwards of 10-15 minutes, where as thru the GPU I'm looking 15-30 seconds.

It's literally click on UVR, open file, load file, choose output folder, choose what stem model you want, click start processing.

Everything more in depth with other settings is self explanatory as you can over your mouse pointer over it and a help bubble will pop up explaining what is what.

Yes, 2070 Super, UVR and the MDX23C-InstVoc HQ process runs at around 2x realtime speed, when plain Demucs htdemucs is something like 17x, which is so fast that I practically don't have to wait for it. Additional deverb steps add to the total time, but it's worth the wait.

finally tried stems over the weekend; after the hype died down and I can say I can see why people are dissapointed.

it def needs work on the algorith and the workflow implementation; but it has potential, I am sure akai will continue to improve it, but have only tried one record thus far so wana try a few more records before giving more thoughts

akai overhyped but i think the final product came out lukewarm
