Buying MPC from china anyone?

Hi. I'm looking to buy a Mpc Live 2. I had a mpc 1000 whrn they just came out so i know what I'm buying.

Here's the thing.
I use Chinese business plattforms for what i do to make money. I design T-shirts and other garmet products.

For some reason there is MPC:s for sale there. A third of the price as here in the west. These plattforms are used by many as a daily business tool, like ebay. It's very strict with the same policies as ebay. Buyers protection and money back etc.

So the question is have anyone here bought Akai gear from China?

I think most would belive this is scams. But why would Chinese biz guys sell copied/fake grooveboxes? I mean you can see that they have LOADS of customers and rewiews and all that.
It kinda made ne think that they are mabey not suppose to be sold there. Just manufacturerd. I mean not in akais intress. They slipped away from the routine. Idk..

Also a question regarding the quality of the Live 2. It seems to break alot!?

You posted the same thing on Gearspace (and probably other forums) and your post was removed by the moderators there, because you kept linking to a bait and switch scam.

You talk about user reviews, but the (legit) user reviews on that market place clearly said that people who ordered goods from that specific seller you linked were victim of a bait and switch scam, and instead of getting what they ordered (like a NVIDIA GPU), they got some $5 random toys.

Don't people know the MPC & most music devices are niche communities & we're gonna spot multiple post on different sites, especially scam post?

A cheaper bootleg is plausible given the CPU and main board cost around $50 to mass produce plus $50 for a low latency audio interface and $70 for a 7-inch 1280x800 capacitive touchscreen (total of $170).

Casing, knobs and buttons can always be made cheaper while still feeling solid and having a good feel to them.

These could be identical builds made by the same factories, from batches that failed quality control, or from a worn template.



In case you didn't know, the templates used in manufacturing wear out and are no longer used to produce a high-quality product. Those same templates can then be used to produce lower-quality products.

I can't think of examples off the top of my head, but this is why you can sometimes find cheaper versions of things like tools and cogs from cheaper no-name brands. Many cheap MIDI devices fit this mould on Amazon and Shopify.



One YouTuber bought what was said to be an NVidia GPU from Wish which turned out to be an older GPU than advertised but overclocked with some minor tweaks to activate disabled capabilities (probably due to QC checks).



I wouldn't advise it.


Whatever you save, you run the risk of losing.


And for what? The cost of 50 cups of coffee?

So I keep looking for a used Live2. In the west.

Dont even bother, got a pc? use the mpc software it does everything the box does and more and you can probably jip it for free... not saying you *should*. If you dont own an mpc you dont require one to get the full experience. Just a soundcard and a keyboard.

Before I got my MPC I was using a preowned Dell Micro (10th gen i5 so not too shabby) with Maschine.


It was aimed at being a portable setup, so I also have these little 7" and 10" screens the size of a tablet that I can slip into my bag (in case you were concerned about having something big).



If you must, you can get the MPC Studio mk2 with a cheap PC or Mac mini.



I've never tried the Studio (or the smaller Maschine) but if you're working from a PC/Mac, you will still get a great experience.

I did with the silver Studio and a MacMini... got the experience, bought a MPC4K

If you have to ask under the circumstances you present, you know the answer. There are no short-cuts or deals too good to be true. If you can’t afford to buy it through reputable means, you probably can’t afford to throw one third of the cost into a hole of no return.

I actually have a pallet of 40 of the said Chinese MPC's coming in.

Was told that since I ordered that many, they're going to pre-load them with exclusive to China, Chinese Violin Sample Vol 1 and Chinese Opera Singer Vol 1.

I'll let you all know how it works out.
