DAWless Setup Help

Needing some help with the best way to set up the following for a DAWless set up:

- MPC Live 2
- Korg Minilogue XD
- Behringer TD3
- Behringer Q802USB
- Behringer U-Phoria UMC202
- Powered Speakers

Any advice greatly received….

Most people will not have experience with all of the gear you have listed, so would have to look up or guess at what a lot of it does.

We all have different things we'd like to do with our gear. Even if we have the same gear no two people will use it in exactly the same way. Write down what you want to do with all this gear, or how you *think* it might do things.

even with the list of 6 items you have listed, there are many ways that you *could* set them up.

Just my two cents... definitely good luck in setting things up, learning the gear, and hopefully you'll get some solid advice.

The aim is for live performance. What I really need to know is the best way to route the audio from the gear using the Mpc as the main hub….

I don‘t get, what your goal is here…
You got a Mmixer. So, plug everything in there.
Connect all with MIDI to the Mac. (MIDI Out to MIDI In and then Through to another in).

Then you can „play“ everything from the Mac.

Maybe watch some tutorials an routing audio and MIDI.

Also, when you‘re using a Mac, it technically is not DAWless…

sorry this is late but . . . i would sequence everything in MPC. send MIDI Tracks out to the Minilogue and TD-3. i sequence all my 303 boxes from an external sequencer just because (for me) life's too short to try and do it natively with the 303 sequencer workflow. overlap notes on the grid if you need a slide, bump up the velocity if you need an accent (can't remember what the TD-3's velocity threshold is off the top of my head, 64/65?)

Plug main outs of MPC into line 3/4 on mixer

Plug stereo outs of korg into lines 5/6

Plug mono out of TD-3 into line 2

Leave line 1 open for a mic


Your inputs and outputs are limited. This is okay. This means you have to do more mixing within the MPC and manage and organize your tracks in the mpc.

Buy about 4 midi cables and link up the korg and td 3 to the mpc brain

main outs of the mixer go to your audio interface inputs

outputs of audio interface go to powered speakers

You have unused FX signal on your mixer. Might be a good excuse to add some kind of FX pedal to the mix. A really good quality compressor perhaps, or a multi FX unit that includes a compressor inside it. I recommend Zoom MSCDR70 because it has shimmer reverb models, tape delay models, compressor, amp sims, etc. A shimmer reverb or a quality delay would go well with the korg synth.

By the way. I have a minilogue xd and i think they are slept on. people whine about only 4 voices but the presets in the thing sound great.

People who collect music gear instead of make music usually have more money than they know what to do with and they are fickle and buy/sell lots of gear going from one piece to another always chasing the unicorn. It's consumerism. I try not to get caught up in it and just sit down in front of equipment i already have. The minilogue XD was pushed aside for the next round of korg synth products (opsix, modwave, wavestate). I have not run mine through its courses yet. I got sidetracked into chasing the perfect e-piano sound.

I second on the Zoom pedal, the MSCDR 70, I use it for guitar, as I mix everything inside the Akai Force. But it is a great little pedal!!!!
