Can you play the mpc like an older monophonical synth? Mono stuff.. Like on a Minimoog.. I dunno the terms.. :oops:
For example: If you set it to mono, and another "thing", you play a note and when you play a note higher, nothing happens. But if you play a note lower in pitch, it changes. And vica versa.. You know what I mean? ( If only I knew the correct terms.. :( ) Thats cool for playing some wicked basslines!
(If you got the Minimoog VSTi, you can tjek it out)

And how to setup the pads so that they send aftertouch to key or drum programs? The aftertouch works with the Note Repeat function, but doesnt when I play a drum/ keygroup program or trigger Logic.

Yes, you can change the "key triggering priority mode" (or whatever you want to call it)

Can't you?

vwrom vwrom mtf mr you again. :roll: Mono Legato is in the program page. In mono legato the pitch changes will change without triggering the second note. If you want to bend the note in a glide to the next like a bass player use the Portamento field and set the speed or time with the rate. Reference manual explains alot of this but to really understand supplement info is helpful. I see that you decided to stay with the 4k for the time being so get the most out of it. All samplers are the same as far a substractive synthesis goes. To tell the truth if you can program Reason 2.5, you can program the Z8 in the 4k. Keep ya nose clean and I think renegade bliss already posted this function to ya in your earlier post. Double posts aren`t necessary.

mono legato isn't actually the quite same thing - that's to do with envelope triggering mode -

Feline check this is it right or not about portemento and Keyboard setting from the Moog manual

12. The GLIDE control (2) regulates the amount of portamento, or glide, heard
between pitches as first one key and then another is depressed. This control is
activated by turning on the GLIDE switch (R). Setting the GLIDE control at various
levels, play a scale or arpeggio, first with the GLIDE switch on, then using the switch
to introduce glide selectively between certain notes only. Notice that the further to the
right control (2) is set, the longer it will take a tone to move from one pitch to the next.
13. Finally, the KEYBOARD itself functions as a controller. It produces a control
signal which varies according to the position of the key struck. If more than one key is
held down, only the lowest one has effect. The control output of the KEYBOARD is
permanently connected to Oscillators 1 and 2. Switch (B) couples it to Oscillator 3.
Switches (K) and (L) couple it to the filter, and are discussed in the modifiers section,
step 8. The KEYBOARD also produces a timing signal each time a key is depressed.
This will be discussed in the modifiers section in connection with filter and loudness
contour controls.

Audio signals produced by the three oscillators, noise source, and microphone
preamplifier are combined and balanced by the Mixer section's switches and volume
controls. It is this composite signal, the output of the mixer, which is then modified by
the filter and loudness contour controls and appears as the audio output signal of the
Mini Moog.
1. The OSCILLATOR VOLUME controls (12, 13, and 14) are used to regulate the
relative levels of the audio signals produced by the three oscillators. Switches (C),

Second half on Mono Legato with Portamento settings

Legato is mono mode, but with an extra to it, that one can have monophonic legato trills. This means that if you hold down one note, then play a second note while keeping the first one held down, then release the second note, then it snaps back to the first note. This means one can play nice fast trills and emulate the way a wind instrument is played (often one can play a fast trill on a wind instrument by just holding down and releasing a single key).

You need to select this note so that the first note of the trill gets retuned accordingly whenever the second one gets released.

In legato mode, each note may also be slurred to the next one so that if you play two notes so that they overlap, the second one is played with no attack. This is the usual musician's meaning of legato. However, your soundcard mightn't necessarily play a true legato even if it does the legato trills. If it does, then a useful tip for the fractal tunes: Set the Sustain from Bs | Tempo, Note time and volume for Tune to a value slightly greater than 1 if you want each note to slur to the next.


The Yamaha softsynth supports all these modes, except that for the legato mode, it re-triggers the attack for every note played, so that it isn't a true legato - at least at first sight.

However here is a tip: one can get a real legato with this softsynth too. The trick is to use Portamento, and set the slide value to 0 - then you get legato notes, and no portamento slides. It's a true legato - the notes get slurred if they overlap, and the attack at the start of the note is sounded if it doesn't overlap with the previous note, exactly as one would desire it.

Note that with FTS you can do legato trills even if both notes are, say, within a quarter tone of middle c. What FTS will do in this situation is to play one note as c#, played very flat to bring it into pitch, and the other as middle c. Or one of them may be a b natural played sharp to bring it into pitch. Result is, your synth will recognise these as two separate note numbers, and so will do a legato trill between them as desired.

Also, there are two common types of legato trills - high note priority and low note priority . A third possibility might be to snap back to the most recent note played - I don't know if that is used or not, but it is there if you need it.

These only affect what happens if you hold down three notes simultaneously. This can give an attractive effect. E.g. hold down a C, then a G and an A, trill between the G and A, and now and again release both to hear the C. The question then is, if you hold down, say, G, A and middle c, and then release the A, does it snap down to the G below it, or snap up to the middle c above it, or does it snap back to whichever was most recently played. You need to try it out and see what happens, and then select the appropriate option from the drop list at the bottom of this window. N.B. If you find some other behaviour that needs to be programmed, let me know.
