I've recently just purchased a used MPC1000 with programs, sequences, samples etc. already on them. I'm a beginner and honestly am looking to erase all of the pre-existing data so I can start with a clean slate which I assume will have to be done manually. Overall is this a wise decision and if so how can I do this in the most effective manner?
I should mention this MPC runs on JJOS version 3.16, is there any reason I should switch to OS2XL?

It's best that you click in the MPC 1000 forum and read the answers to the very questions you are asking.

There are so many threads talking about the reasons why, all you need to do is muster up the courage to click on them.

Maybe use usb cable to see whats in there on the computer. Reading the manuals and book is necessary but for some actual fun suggest loading up a program or two and making some beats.
