Hey!

I faced the following problem: I made a little beat within my MPC One by using drums, a synth plugin and chopped slices of a breakbeat sample which I sampled in stereo.
I recorded the beat for testing on my presonus studiolive mixer via the SD card as a WAV file. The mix sounded the way I heard it before on the monitor speakers and headphones also - just as I wanted to.
Then I took the SD card and decoded that WAV file on my windows laptop into a MP3 file. After that process, certain elements of the chopped sample have way less volume and I can't hardly hear it anymore. I suggest it is because of missing stereo elements after decoding? I then tried to decode the WAV file on my macbook into m4a and everything was fine.
I wanted to use that little beat snippet for a short internet video, so I also separated the left channel of the wav file and took it for left and right - mono. Then the sample volume was right again.

I haven't thought about this issue before, when I was working in DAWs instead of standalone.

Would you prefer sampling in mono on the MPC to avoid these decoding effects?

Can‘t help, but:

DO NOT USE MP3 FOR VIDEO. MP3 is not discrete and in no way timing-accurate. For intermediary (non-consumer) usage ALWAYS render WAV (at least 48 kHz 24 bit) or similar, untill you produce the final video (with e.g. AC3) or similar.
