Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi all,

I have just purchased a zulu scsi for my 2KXL and
wanted to know how you go about backing things up.
All my beats are on Zip disks and wanted to know without blowing the fuse how I would transfer those project onto the sd.
I can only think that I would need to load them into the internal memory and swap out the zip for the zulu - Would that work or do I need an internal zip and switch drives in the OS?
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

Peace

If I'm understanding correctly - Since you have an internal zip drive, you'd have to connect the Zulu to the external SCSI port on the back.

From there, it would be a matter of copying the beats and samples off the zip disks one by one, over to the formatted partition on your Zulu.

Doing it this way isn't endangering the fuse on your XL at all. The main thing you have to know is, if your ZIP drive is SCSI based, make sure your Zulu's emulated drives do not have SCSI ID's that conflict with what you have set on your zip drive.

But if your zip drive is an ATAPI one, then you don't need to think about that at all as there's nothing to conflict with the SCSI bus.

J currently only have an external
zip. Just bought an internal but yet to install it.
This will mean I will need to disconnect both devices
.p.s the zulu scsi is the external dongle type thingy.

will that still work?

If you have both external zip drive and external zulu scsi, you can daisy chain them together and it will work fine.

The process is still the same, make sure they don't have conflicting SCSI ID's and it should be fine.

Only thing I can think of besides that, disable the termination dip on the Zulu, or the termination switch on the Zip drive as you only can have 1 terminating SCSI device on the SCSI bus.
