Hi guys how are you going ?

I wonder if there is a way of playing more than 4 hardware synths with the MPC 3000 at the same time?

For exemple, if I have the following set up :

track A1 Juno
track B1 Korg
track C1 Yamaha
track D1 Moog

Is there some ways with MIDI THRU box or DAW or whatsoever to add others synths and being able for exemple to have the following set up :

track A1 Juno A2 Prophet etc
track B1 Korg B2 Juno 2 etc
track C1 Yamaha
track D1 Moog

I am using the MPC3000 as main midi sequencer, Live, Logic, and a ORION 32 as soundcard

:worthy:

Let me know!

If you have MIDI THRU on those devices, you can just hook up another device and chain it afterwards. A couple things to keep in mind...
1) MIDI THRU is pretty solid, but can add a bit of latency to the chain, so you probably don't want to just daisy chain 16 devices off of one MIDI OUT of the MPC
2) Soft MIDI THRU requires the device to process and then send the MIDI to MIDI OUT, so will add much more latency than MIDI THRU typically
3) You'll want each device in a chain to have access to its own MIDI Channel, so that it is assigned channel 1, 2, or whatever... avoid OMNI/Global

Good luck, and have fun!

Yes I know I can do it with MIDI / THRU box but I wanted the less latency issues as possible and you answered my question perfectly.

So the idea is :

-For the synth that does not have midi thru I use a MIDI box

-If there is a midi thru, I just plug the MIDI IN of the synth I want into the THRU of the one that is already use as a MIDI OUT ?

So by doing this, I will have to adjust the midi channel of the new synth I want to plug into channel 2 for exemple and then, on the mpc select 2A ? exemple : TRACK 1A YAMAHA / 2A NEW SYNTH

I am right and clear ? :hmmm:

Ok so just did some trials, it's not working as I have pictured it.

When I try to plug the MIDI TRU of the DX (MIDI OUT B of the MPC) into the IN of the JUNO it does not work.

Or

I have a drum machine that I try to link MIDI IN to the MIDI THRU of the DX it does not work as well.

Basically I want to know if I can midi control those extra piece of gear with the MPC the same way you can do with a multi-timbral synth but not with another timber but an other synth - on the same MIDI OUT of the MPC that a synth is already use.

Sorry very difficult to be clear on those technical things for me.
