what would I be better off with?

What would I be better off getting the FX board for the MPC or a Alesis MidiVerb. I have heard many talk bad about the FX Board and some compliment it.....any suggestions

I would get the effects board, I like maxing out the options of my gear, and you will have lots of controll of effects on each pad rather than through the 8 outs and stereo outs. It will be more useful in the long run I think.
