Hey guys. Hope you are well. Would be ever so grateful for some help please.
So I have been making music on and off for years, using a laptop, ableton/logic, a focusrite saffire 6 usb and Fostex pm2 monitors.
Probably easier if I explain what I want to do.
So after many years of umming and ahing and saving, I have just invested in an akai mpc 1000. Blue and red.
I'd like to be able to connect my digital turntable to record straight off of vinyl records into the mpc (2 phono outs i think). I'd also like to import files and sounds from my laptop occasionally to add to a project. I'd also like to be able to connect my bass guitar to the mpc to record bass, or a microphone to record percussion like chopsticks or house keys or a lighter.
I have a blue and red mpc 1000. A focus rite saffire 6 usb. Fostex pm2 monitors. Audio technica headphones.
I'm unsure if the focusrite will connect to the mpc, or if it needs to. If I need a mixer. Or a preamp (not even sure what that is)
So essentially I want to rip some pretty sounds off vinyl. Import some extra drums from my laptop. Record a bass line over the top. Throw it all in the mpc and bounce that as a whole track. Which can then be put in ableton and some vocals recorded on top.
Any help and advice would be hugely appreciated. Proper noob to hardware here.
