mpc 2000 questions from a new mpc owner.

I just copped an mpc 2000 and daisy chained a zip drive + cd-rom.

I was wondering is there software that i can use on my pc to be able to get samples from my pc to my mpc? I connected my zip to my pc, but my pc doesnt read it, even with the most recent drivers.

I have thousands of samples and the only way to get them to my mpc from my pc is to format a 3 1/2 floppy in the mpc and then transfer a few samples at a time from the pc to the disk.

My patients are running thin. Please someone tell me an easier way to do this.

Burn the sounds to a CD and load them from your CD rom drive.

anyway, does the mpc read the zip drive ok? if so, you should consider getting a usb zip drive for your pc, this is what i do and it works great.. although, i've read stories on here from people who've had corrupted disks from doing this so i'm not 100% sure how reliable it is, but i've not personally had a problem so far. i still back up the contents of each disk on my pc every couple of days just in case..

or, burn cd's.. gonna be heavy on discs though.

Buy a USB zip drive, keep all your file names no more than 8 characters long and transfer should not be a problem. be careful though, you can get corrupted disk after a while so stock up on your ZIPS and use the warrenty that iomega offers u on them. I claim at least 50 disks back a last year. (if u know what i mean)

I have tryed to do that, but it does'nt work. Unless there is a way to format cd-r/cd-rw through SCSI on the mpc.......?

So your saying that once the zip disk is corrupted, it cannot be used anymore?

The MPC 2k classic cannot read FOLDERS/Directories on eithier CD/ZIP format. Why? I dont know. The XL can..

Im using a ZIP on the PC and a ZIP on the MPC connected to a 4gig HD i got for like $10.00
