Realistic bass guitar sounds - help

Hi - I've always sampled bass guitar sounds from vinyl to use for basslines in the older MPCs. Now I have the MPC One, I'm interested in exploring using plugins for the first time for bass. I'm looking for something that sounds like a real bass guitar, but all the sounds in the Bassline plugin sound really manufactured/synth-like even when I play around with the dynamics.

Can anyone recommend a plugin that sounds more like a real bass guitar please (or a way to get this sound using the Bassline plug-in)?

Sorry if this is a real basic question for people that use plugins regularly, but this is new to me as I still sample other sounds from vinyl.

A plain bass actually sounds rather „synth like“...
What makes it a real bass is the player and his/her way to make the strings ring and mute.

That‘s the hard part for a(ny) plugin and it requires some understanding of the instrument to fake it by midi control.
Type of amp and dynamic processor also matter, but to a lower degree.

I don‘t have it myself, but Trillian is a well known bass plugin (in the top range).
ps: my chops (and timing) still suck, but I love my P-Bass

Looking into mpc-tutors "subtractive synthesis" method for generating tones is a worth while undertaking. You can model your own tones. If you get comfy messing with the ASDR and LFO you can generate some tones that are less machine like.

Long story short, feed the keygroup layer a sine wave oscillator that loops. Adjust asdr so attack is short sustain is 0, decay is about 3/4, and release around 50%. That will give you a plucky sound. (A bass guitar for instsance is just a sine wave but the shape if the tone matters.)

Once your comfy shaping the tones then you can mess with with the LFO to modulate pitch ever so slightly so it doesnt sound so machine like.

Add some fx. The bass amp fx work.

i would agree, for real bass sounds, i'd keep sampling for it.

The absolute best bass emulator is Scarbee Rickenbacker Bass for Kontakt. I used that with Maschine all the time. But the only way to use that is by using the MPC with the software and Kontakt as a VST. Buy it's really REALLY good.

Bassline is more of a analog synth emulator which can still be use to sound like a bass guitar but you may need to use the Amp Sim FX, but Fabric has some presets to get yo started.

Also like someone mentioned using the tools in the Drum-Program will shape the sound more the way you want. I recently made 2 Drum-Program tutorials each with 15 ways to edit a sample. I bought a bass guitar and some classes for this reason. You don’t have to be a great player to make your own bass lines. Usually I sample myself playing small phrases, chop, edit and sequence what I have. Overdub some notes I am not satisfied with or want another type of accent on. Laying it down takes some more effort than programming Fabric or my old patches I bought here in ‘08 with a midi keyboard. But soundwise my Squire Jazz bass beats everything else I have.
