The piano sound is one part Stage Piano plugin and the other harsher sound is a piano in Hype, with the formant paramter in the oscillator turned down.
I usually use the Granulator effect on piano, for a rough shattered reverb, sometimes also use a tremolo on piano.
You can get a similar sound when you pitch a high piano an octave down, that is play back at half speed.
A similar sound, highest pitch piano tuned down could also be nice on your Angel tune I imagine.

Nice tips! I'll try using Granulator on the pianos. Hype has a decent piano, I used on my Urban Knight beat. I'll also try the picth down & Half-Time tip. The Angel harp beat I took the high picthced harp/piano sample & pitched it down a octave, reversed it & used Warp, which gave it weird funky sound. Most of these beats I'm post here are just sketches still being worked on. Next I'll compare what I did with the Half-Time.

I'm surprised this section isn't more active. Don't people actually make music with these boxes? They can complain, wish for requests & debate all day. They could at least comment on those that do share their art.

The high notes were actually put in the timeline manually afterwards, its mostly the effects, I just looked it up, theres delay and reverb in the piano and tremolo, granulator, half speed and nonlinear reverb ( reverse reverb) in the effects and this goes into submix with ducker and compressor and eq.. this makes it feel like there is more going on than there is.

Thanks for the breakdown. I love that these current MPCs & Force have so many built-in FX & so manys way to use them!

Some hate on their quality - maybe they're use to using DAWs, but my last 2 main devices was the MPC2500 then the RS7000.

The RS have 100 FXs but each track can only use 3. The 2500 FX engine was bare-bones at best. So to me, it makes me want to go back to my SP-505 days & resample like crazy!

Now, we can save each FX settings which is very helpful if you to back to unfinished projects. Combining FXs in interesting way like you did is key to getting the best out of them.

I think some of the effects in MPC are really good, you need to spend some time tweaking though
especially the reverbs, at first I thought they were mediocre but they can be really good, too.

Some years ago I tried to build a physical instrument, much like a kalimba, but with bent tines.

Had the shape below laser cut from steel, but the project was a failure with the steel being to soft and I never finished it.
Tonight I sampled some sounds from that, and made the track below, besides of the drums which are MFB 522 samples the whole track is a single note short one shot sample from the leftmost tine.

I like the sound very much and call it steel piano. I think I want to make an EP just with that, and maybe another sounding structure I want to build.

Four calm pieces of melancholic mesmerizing music for late summer days and autumn equinox.

All sound derived from a single note contact microphone sample of an experimental
laser cut steel comb tongue instrument (the 'Moonshard') and an MFB 522 drum machine.

Recorded August 6th-9th 2024.
