Boppad & MPC

I'm considering a Keith McMillan BopPad for use with MPC live. Anyone tried one of these with MPC? What's your impression?
Is the editor necessary, or can it be plugged in and used straight out of the box?
I bought a kat ktmp1, but found the acoustic noise level a little much, as the pads have to be struck pretty hard.
I'm looking for something relatively quiet yet responsive to use with sticks, hand, finger, mallet.

I know this an old thread, but I just bought an MPC Live 2 and plugged my BopPad directly into the USB port and it worked immediately (with a drum kit loaded of course). The default configuration seems to be, clockwise from the top right quadrant of the BopPad to correspond with MPC Pad 3, Pad 2, Pad 6, Pad 10 respectively.

I only played around with it for a few minutes, but I was thinking that I could possibly use the BopPad editor to reassign MIDI numbers to each pad if I knew I wanted a kick, snare, hat, or tom in a specific place, but since all of the kits are a little different, I thought I could create my own drum programs in the MPC with samples that correspond to the default pads, 3, 2, 6, 10. I could just put 4 samples per Bank, and have multiple banks if I want to change samples. Not necessarily a great solution for performing live, but not bad for studio work.

I was also digging around in the MIDI controller menu on the MENU screen to see if I could change numbers there. I assume that I could find the MIDI numbers of each MPC Pad somewhere and just match them up.

I think just making drum programs, or reassigning samples to those specific pads might be the quicker route.

Anyone else using the BopPad with any MPC hardware?
