Where do you even come up with this stuff? No one ever blamed the failures of the MPC ecosystem on Linn not being there. Shit he hasn't worked for Akai since like 1994 when the 3000 came out, and had nothing to do with the 2000 and onward as it is..

Dude, Zero people think this way. Absolutely no one on Earth refused to purchase a Live because Roger had issues with Jack literal decades ago. You know how I know this? Because the only person this affected was Roger, and even *HE* owns a unit now. I also work directly with Linn "fanbois" and they couldn't give any less of a f*ck either way.

wrong certain people think this way; not saying that they did not purchase a live due to linn; thats a different arguement.

Im saying they spoke down on modern mpcs that had no linn involvment.

I mean... To be fair, this is NOT a public forum. It's privately owned by Andy Avgousti (MPC-Tutor). It's about as public as a CVS or Target or your local mall that may or may not still be open. Think of it more like the food court at the mall.

I'll also go on record and say that Roger Linn would NOT have made that video unless some semblance of peace has been made between him and InMusic/Jack O'Donnell, as we all (well most of us) know about the things Roger said prior. What the details of that relationship or event entails - I couldn't give a rat's ass about it. That's private and in between those two parties, but I wish them both well. The vast majority of the MPC community has moved on from that crap by now. The grown ups have, anyway.

Whatever it is, I'm happy for Roger Linn, regardless of the past, it's great to see that he can find joy in something we all would have assumed would cause him pain.

so realistically what influence apart from just marketing cosigns do you think roger can have on the future direction of the MPC?

cos at this point his insturment output for past 20 years has been very arcane and expirmental; and is a far cry from the mass appeal that his orginal designs had back in the 80's/90s

All I'm saying is it's nice to see him appreciate the MPC Live II. I have no opinion on how that happened, or what that means for any direction either of them (Akai or Roger) take.

I think it will be a mostly superficial influence; and will likely amount to nothing more then an mpc60 paint job and a roger linn logo on one of the devices; rather than any creative/development input.

Even if it is a superficial MPC60 color scheme with Roger Linn's name on it... I'd take that over another SUPREME branded MPC.

Saw the video yesterday.
Having owned several InMusic MPCs and used them extensively, this video did not make me appreciate the current MPCs more, but made me appreciate Roger Linn less.

The current software is a convoluted mess, buggy, unstable, and full of wack design choices (visual and workflow). What I want from Akai is a rock-solid modern MPC with a streamlined sample workflow, a streamlined sequencer workflow and a well-compiled set of high quality fx (and maybe a competent synth engine for bass, pads, and fx).

There are some users here who like to turn any thread from whatever the subject initially is, into what that certain user said controversy. First they make some inflated controversial statement, and that's all that's needed, then other users automatically start furiously responding to the crap, maybe thinking that they're doing something good by opposing some jerk posting on the internet. There's a well-working ignore list feature here, so this wouldn't need to happen time after time after time.

the mpc def has a passionate if not slightly unhinged user base lol
