Money talks. It's like when you leave a shitty review on Amazon and a week later the company is bending over backwards to give you a full refund and other products for 'free'. You feel compelled to remove your review.

Hey come on now, Cubase and Notator/Logic kicked ass on the ST!!

Yeah I used Notator, still have my dongle. But that was in 1993

if Mr. Linn is about to do something with these jokers, ill eat my tie!

But this HAS to mean the Mini MPC with Non-MPCOS 3.0 is coming!!

It's not that deep.

It's normal people shit to share your thoughts on a forum like this. But how you're going to tell MPC-Forum member's, that a video of Roger Linn playing a modern MPC that they sent him & only saying nice things about it, is just simple video & don't look more into it? That's not gonna work. There will be theories for days & rightfully so. Just look at how fast this thread got to 5 pages.

Of course people are coming up with all kinds maybe's, some more logical than others, but we already know none of us reallllllly know why Mr. Linn did this? But just in case...

For all those that may not know this common truth:
DON'T TAKE ANYONE'S MAYBE THEORY YOU READ ON THIS THREAD AS FACTS.
IT'S JUST PEOPLE, BEING PEOPLE, POPPING SHIT & KILLING TIME WHEN NOT MAKING BEATS.

it was E-A-SKI not Ski Beatz who took issue with the sonics of current MPCs

yeah my bad, what ever though.... the whole thing was stupid. You watch some of these guys giving tutorial videos and you hear shit like "quantalize" .. being thrown around. i mean we get it, but damn.... after years using the product line and still shit like that? who you teaching shit to?

None of this heralds the Force 2 (Linn didn’t work on Force 1), Future work together, or the apocalypse. It would make sense to get the Godfather in the house but what we saw may be all there is. Maybe, maybe not.

If Linn was made whole, that’s good for him. It hasn’t changed my day to day routine.

all good; I was just correecting the names for accuracy sake but the names are very similar.

I do get ur point; yes EA-SKI does have a slight point; but the difference was not as night and day as he claims, and the whole argument was blown out of proportion.

Far as youtubers they target newbies primarily; there are very few channels that hardened mpc heads like those on this forum would like.

The main one I can think of is Tubedigga, but he does not post as often as these other influencer types.

johnnytravels wrote:1. I am saying that he didn’t dig very deep into the MPC and his video is a one-sided promotional endorsement, which is what makes me like Roger less. His video is basic YouTube shilling on the level of Ave Mcree and the like…

2. Just a few examples: No way to rearrange fx slots, fx selection cluttered with useless legacy fx, multiple redundant ways to chop a sample and adjust chops, no way to adjust start and end points of chops at the same time with four qlinks, no database system for multisamples, hence constant deleting pgms and purging memory when trying out patches, plugin system has constant activation issues, Atari ST level song mode, certain plugins change qlinks when tapping one parameter, other don’t (and now I don’t even wanna continue anymore, the current system feels like it’s being held together by duct tape).

Sure you can load up a few sounds and bang something out in no time (that’s basically what you can do on any groovebox). It’s when you move past the honey moon period that the flaws become apparent. And the MPC’s flaws are well documented and should be part of any honest review at this point.

agree very simple promotional style vid

the issues u raised mostyl about FX are very nitt picky and not deal breakers as there are sufficient workarounds for all those points.

yes there are flaws thats the same with all equipment; as nothing is perfect as long as the workarounds are there I dont expect perfection from any device.

you previously mentioned synths that are competent; what is ur issue with the synths that akai has provided thus far?

I saw a YouTuber take a sample, chop it into even beat divisions, then press record and bang the pads one by one, in time with the original tempo, resulting in the full recreation of the original sample without chops, to which he exclaimed “ooh yeah I like that”.

it does what he set out to achieve when he designed his old drum machines 40 years ago... a piece of gear for musicians that don't require an engineer on retainer to use. Read the MPC60 manual that he wrote, it's a treat compared to any other manual I have ever read. There was a lot of thought put behind his main objective with the user experience thing... and in this video, he points out how some of those ideas 30+ years ago are still relevant today.

You already know Ave McCree had to join the party
