Hmmm... that didn't work for me. I'm on 2.14.0 ... Put it in Controller mode (Not attached to computer) and then hit Standalone after a minute or so... selected Empty Project --> Menu ---> Preferences --> Activations, then hit Refresh and it doesn't show the Air Soft Clipper .

Any other way? I just wanted to try the Trial, hadn't purchased it yet.

Both my mpc's required a second on/off and it showed up, but then for some reason ring the alarm was gone.. on both!! Then another on/off and all is good..
I like it!! It really brings drums out!! It gets them really really trebly though.. I think putting the vintage filter after it is what is really setting my current mix off.. nice job akai!

How does drums sound compared to the soft clipper in the drum fx section?

Idk, I honestly haven't used the original enough to have a memory of what it sounds like. I will compare them tomorrow if I get time.

Seems like having this standalone is enough of an argument but I am curious.

I only recently the past 6 months or so starting using soft clipper on master buss . I use the knock clipper which sounds awesome and you can dial in soft to hard clipping which is convenient. That being said, this clipper sounds good and gets the job done on the master (thats the only place Ive really used it). If in controller mode I'd still reach for the Knock clipper but this is great for standalone.

And side note, its not the same as the clipper in program/drum efx. I never really like the sound of those and obviously its limited in use.

Thx for your input. I guess I will give it a try since I never used soft clippers standalone.

For DAW or Hybrid usage I would use free alternatives is my uneducated conclusion.
