 I think I know who you’re talking about lol

I also enjoy when YouTubers take heavily processed drum samples from splice and add compression, eq, saturation, distortion and be like, “damn! That’s hard!”

And on top of that, call it an advanced sampling technique that the pro don't want you to know!
Man, if don't get da hell off my screen with that BS!

all good; I was just correecting the names for accuracy sake but the names are very similar.

I do get ur point; yes EA-SKI does have a slight point; but the difference was not as night and day as he claims, and the whole argument was blown out of proportion.

Far as youtubers they target newbies primarily; there are very few channels that hardened mpc heads like those on this forum would like.

The main one I can think of is Tubedigga, but he does not post as often as these other influencer types.

yeah that's it... both skis are legends and are responsible for fantastic music.. was just a tired day that day.

and yeah man, tube digga makes incredible videos if you are trying to learn something. his videos have answered my questions here and there over the years for things i couldn't figure out.

i don't disagree with ea-ski necessarily... but it's tough to tell when instead of elaborating on what exactly you are talking about... or using actual terms that mean something tangible... it is easy to just say "the sonics" without getting specific where you can either be proven incorrect, or better yet... being able to back up the argument with facts that can't be disputed. All the people watching his videos don't know a damn thing under the hood of the older machines but can somehow say "yeah, the sonics" .. while i'm sitting there wondering who is forcing people to sample wack shit into the new MPCs... because god forbid anyone spends a bit of time doing some sound design... you actually can do that these days and aren't forced to work around lower fidelities... now it's an option you can splash in to taste.

I sample shit into the live from loads of old samplers.. like the s900, remix 16, s20, the 2000 classic, the 60, the boss SPs, and what ever else... the live retains 100% of the grit. However, you can also add atmosphere to that with higher fidelity samples.. add good sounding reverb to create some space.. all before post processing or tracking in.. in fact, you don't even need to track in anymore.

really convenient.. which i think was RL's point.

I wish I had saved it or could remember 100% who it was, but I was obviously repulsed at the time.

I enjoyed watching him talk and listen to the specific things he chose to take notice of. It seems things like quantization / swing were tasks for him and he took notice of those elements being well emulated.

Kinda neat to see him do a review. Whether paid, not paid, just doing it for fun, it's pretty cool to know he has one of the modern units now. Who knows maybe he will take an interest in it as a user and have fun like we do.

I wanna hear some more of his reggae beats. By the end of the video I was outside cheifing herb to his beat.

so in a dream/imagination gone wild scenario; what kind of collab between roger and in music would people like to see?

I would like to see an MPC 3600; a merger of the MPC60 & MPC3000; it would have an analog filter and the outputs circuits of both the 3000 and 60, and it would have the same touch screen but would the mpc 3.0 software.

Nostalgia is a funny thing.
Any attempt to create a modern ersatz MPC60 or otherwise would just be that, and surely something that the EP–133 K.O.II and other limited ability (in comparison to say the MPC One) devices have in reality, already accomplished.
What are the burning reasons?

The older devices relative simplicity create a somewhat faster, simpler workflow I think.
Many people find the more complex functionality superfluous.

For me, I think the multiple redundancy between the hardware buttons, menus and touchscreen distracting.
Just choose one user interface paradigm for heavens sake!

So maybe a modern MPC guts, in a steel enclosure, large, clear display in any lighting.
Hardware buttons and a well thought out menu structure.
Maybe lose the soft-synths or just one good one.
M2 storage.
More ram.
Stream from HD.
Super sweet hardware filters.

So JJOS then :-D

Can't see how Roger fits in with the inMusic business model. Just watching his video about the Linnstrument, it's hand made in the US using the finest materials and each unit is quality checked by him personally. How much of that are inMusic (and Roger) going to be willing to compromise to produce an affordable inmusic landfill version?

Just don't see how it could ever be much more than a basic endorsement relationship (MPC Live 3 Linn Edition, i.e. retro colours with his signature printed on the case plus custom boot screen).

Then again, didn't think I would ever see him making a video like this, so who knows?!!

was thinking the same Live III, 4go + 500 USD more expensive so they can simply reuse at smaller scale what they have for the X SE
