MPC X SE SYNTH FOLDER MISSING PLUGINS

I posted this over in the software sub-forum and am thinking this may be the more appropriate place to post this to.

I recently got into the Akai MPC world over the last 3 months or so. I started with a MPC Live II and really like it, with its portability, layout, and most importantly workflow. So after about 30-40 days with it I decided I wanted to get the MPC X SE for my studio to be the centerpiece for A.) Sampling all my hardware B.) Hands on quick setup of and arranging of beats/songs.

I also figured since I hadn't purchased any additional plugins and had access to the 8 that come with the Live II, buying the MPC X SE would give me access to almost the all of the rest of the plugin instruments saving the cost of buying those after the fact.

That leads me to where I'm a bit confused... When I got the MPC LIve II I put a SSD in right away and chose that as my install location when activating and installing the plugins from the Menu/Preferences/Activations screen. That created a synth folder on that SSD as you guys know and I can see all installed plugins in there, even the ones I installed after I got the MPC X SE and unlocked the additional plugins. Once I installed those on my Live II they also show in the synth folder.

Now when I got my MPC X SE I was excited to check the new plugins out and in my haste just went into the activations tab, logged in and started activating and downloading the plugins, completely forgetting to chose or select a download location.

All the plugins activated and installed correctly and are fully functional, I've had no issue playing any of the plugin instruments or anything like that. What I found strange is, once I realized that oops I installed all the plugins to the internal drive, I figured I would be able to just go find a synth folder on the internal drive and move it over to the SSD, and then delete it off my internal drive. But.. I found no synth folder on my internal drive... anywhere at all.

Sooo I started searching, heavily, thinking this would be easy to figure out... to try and find someone else who had this problem.. surely with the popularity of the MPC, this has happened before.... I was able to find one case, but it was a MPC One, they even posted the notes they got from AKAI, the process to move the Synth folder was as I described above, essentially copying and pasting a file and deleting the old one, while verifying the synths work on the new drive etc. etc. here's the link to that conversation on reddit.

I posted on this thread to no avail/response. So I continued my search when I stumbled onto this from AKAI support

Specifically this part -

So of course I checked my internal drive, sure enough 9.8 GB available... so now I'm really confused. I went back to the activations screen on the MPC X SE and saw that in my haste to install and try the plugin instruments I forgot to install AIR Expander, AIR Multitap Delay, AIR Vintage Filter, and AIR Chorus. So out of curiosity I decided to chose the internal drive (I now have a SSD installed in it) and install these 4 FX plugins to see IF that would create a Synth folder on the internal drive and.... IT DID. However they are the only plugins listed inside this folder....

So to make it clear my questions are, A. Where all the folders for all the instrument plugins I initially installed when I first got it (i.e. Fabric XL, OPx.4 etc) and why are they in the synth folder on my MPC Live II when I installed them on that unit. and B. Why did installing the four plugins I forgot to install then create a synth folder on the internal drive...

Could anyone with a MPC X SE confirm or deny if they browse to the internal/Synth folder they have all the plugins showing up in there or not?

If not what do they show in their Internal/Synth folder

Basically are the plugins that come with the MPC X SE pre installed essentially in the inaccessible root portion of the internal drive, therefore you cannot see them in the normal file structure. thus not showing up in my synth folder?? And the act of activating/installing them isn't really installing anything, just tying them to your account?

Or is something wrong with my particular unit, or with how things got installed, and is there a fix?

So here I am, quite a bit confused, and hoping someone here has the answer to what is going on.. Sorry to be so long winded but I wanted to explain how I got here and what exactly I'm asking..

Internal Synths folder is hidden for end user iirc - even when you uncheck „hide system files” in the browser preferences.

and forget that internal drive even exist.

Yes they are built in on the SE, no need to do anything thru are just there.. if you download other ones like jura then it will make a synth folder. Just go to the activations and put them on a SSD.

I’m confused. If there is 48gb installed on these why does mine say 9.7gb free of 26.2??

I'm not sure what you mean, but the SE comes with a ton of content built in to the internal drive from expansions and the O.S. built in. Is that what you mean? I wouldn't worry about the internal drive and just use a SSD for your stuff and expansions you might buy.

Hey I've been moving the last month but I wanted to hop on and say thank you for your answers kja, thats exactly what I was suspecting but couldn't find the answer anywhere. Too add on, 9.7gb free is exactly what the AKAI website says is free after they install all of the content you get with the SE... the reason (I'm guessing) it says your drive is only 26.2 (mine says the same) is that the formatted space for the OS takes up about 22gb.. this is the same as when you install windows on a SSD or something similar, you have to format the drive which takes space up and creates partitions for the OS to do its thing. Like KJA said and everyone else I have read, just install an SSD or SD card and work from there, leave the internal as it is. Hope this helps, I spent a ton a time looking for answers before I came here.

If you use our custom firmware (HAKAI) you can ssh into the MPC and view/edit/delete alle those files. But be cautious with deleting (You have to know what you are doing).

That being said does anyone have the link for the demo files that come with the MPC X SE?

I believe the previous owner deleted those and want to bring them back. If someone could share it with me that would be awesome.
Haven't heard of a autorun file yet.
