MPC MIDI CC events sent while sequence is not playing

In today's episode of Wrestling with MIDI CC, the sequence is stopped - I repeat, the MPC is not playing... But some MIDI CC events are still going over the MIDI out port. How is that possible ?

Edit: Answering my own question: the CC events were coming from MIDI In and, the track being set to merge, they went back to MIDI Out. Setting Monitor to "off" got us rid of those spurious CC on MIDI Out.

But why was the stopped TR-8 emitting them ? Because it is an extremely cheaply acquired beaten-up third-hand TR-8, so a couple of knobs and sliders are bad enough to produce spurious events by mere old-age self-oscillation.

Once again, a stupid problem and it took me the publishing of a video to find the cause myself !

What type of message is coming into the MPC? Check the I/O Monitor on the MPC
If it is the "Clock" only - all fine, as I miss a constant clock on the MPCX. If the MPC starts with a different BPM as the other instruments, I get a big jitter until all synchronized.
My more than 25 yearold Yamaha RS7000 sends constant clock, which keeps the whole system in beat - always.
As the TR-8 is based on vintage technology it might do the same.

Unfortunately is the MIDI requirement for the clock - if the machine stops - not precise enough defined.
So some instruments (like the modern AKAIs) start sending clock PPQN only if it starts - other instruments send it constantly, what it should do to my taste.
The AKAI MPC 3000 sends to my knowledge a constant Clock "heartbeat" too, so inMusic stopped a good idea by Roger Linn.

Makes sense, as Korg was one of the founders of MIDI....
Big names did a huge job:
Sequential Circuits, Kawai, Korg, Roland and Yamaha were the first.
Major driver was Dave Smith of Sequential Circuits
Bob Moog took the advantage and joint later...

I do not have all brands - but I would not be surprised if all of the named have this constant clock.
The MPCs are jittering all over the place....
