Key 37 + Roland Integra 7 connection

Hello to All,

I have registered here, and new to the MPC world, so learning (steep learning curve!) so sorry if this is a basic or stupid question but wondering if anyone has a Key 37 (or any other MPC I suppose) connected to a Roland Integra, and if so, how have you connected the 2 together?

I am looking to use the Integra as a sound bank to import within the MPC, and basically being able to add the sounds from the Integra into the Sounds section in the MPC (might not be the way to do it but this is the idea!)

Integra 7...? I heard that is a NICE piece. You won't be able to add your sound from the Integra to the Sounds section at all. The best you can do is possibly auto-sample and creates some keygroups.

I would personally MIDI the Integra to the MPC, break out the patch implementation chart, and work from there. You would be able to load patches faster directly on the Integra anyway.

Thank you! Yes the Integra 7 is a great piece of kit and just as good it was when it came out 12 years ago or so!

Figured that, as you are describing that the best way is to MIDI in/out but I am not getting any sound of of anywhere..

Works if I use the USB connection but just getting one sound out of the Integra and switching sounds/instruments does not do anything..

I am fairly new to all of this is probably not doing all the right connections and understanding rings properly but I suppose one has to start somewhere some day..!

Any idea what I should set up in particular on the MPC to get sound feedback?

The setup suggested above means „no Integra sound from the MPC“, it‘s just sending midi to control the Integra.
Sound is handled by the Integra only. Monitors, Headphone Out, output to your DAW, if you want to go that way.

If you want to record the Integra on the MPC, then Integra-Out to MPC-In.
You need a track or new sample set to the respective input, arm it (record ready), switch monitoring on and track it.
Sorry, can‘t provide the details for a current MPC, but I‘ve done exactly that on my old 4K.

Thanks very much! Issue is my Key 37 does not detect the Integra. I get a MIDI Port output but no sign of the Integra, which does come as Integra Control and Integra synth if I connect bout the MPC and the Integra via USB..

Integra Control and Integra Synth are probably PC/Mac programs.
You cannot run those on the MPC. It just opens a midi port and sends notes and control values to the Integra.
(that‘s why the Integra midi implementation chart was mentioned above)

To use these apps you‘d have to split the midi path and „insert“ a Pc/Mac between MPC and Integra to control the synth interactively.
You may then record midi data on the MPC and/or sample the Integra‘s audio output to MPC tracks or samples.
This may be a major inconvenience, but that‘s (imho) the status of communication between the two, according to common sense about midi/audio data flow.
