Nope, 8 layers for keygroups as well and disk streaming can be used on any sample, but you can only automatically enable disk streaming on audio tracks.

Any other sample (e.g. samples used in kits and instruments) has to be individually set to stream via the 'project' window, there's no quick way to set all samples to stream (because they know it's likely going to cause too many performance issues). There's also no way to set streaming options in a program itself, it's a project setting, so it's not something expansion developers can pre-configure for you.

Do you think, or know, if you would chain all the samples in a keygroup or drumprogram into one long sample and then disk stream, there would not be performance issues?

Interesting, I will have to try it when I get the time, not sure how disk streaming deals with playing back individual slices within a sample.

Unless I'm missing something here, this video says that event muting probably will come back - not sure why anyone would prefer audio muting, but anyway - but doesn't give any indication that Akai is looking at fixing track mutes aside from acknowledging that if it stays the new direction is going to break a lot of people's process with the device.

From what Tefty reckons the devs said it's clear that they want to offer both types of muting but have disabled MIDI note muting while they work on some bugs related to it. Audio muting alone is not going to cut it so IMO this has to be something they fix before final release.

BTW, if you are doing the 'MIDI track triggering a drum track' thing, then midi muting is working.

It would suck to have a new OS with the same old bugs :x

new OS = new bugs ...at least

Yeah, I saw someone demonstrating sending a second midi track and saying this was a solution ... I mean, kinda.

But I'm right in thinking there's no word from this / elsewhere on the mutes per sequence issue, other than a lot of people being up in arms about it?

OK, I got the wrong picture... thank you for the clarification.

So 8 layers for keygroups as well, and disk streaming for all samples but with severe limitations... That's great news anyway.

I get that but hopefully the new bugs won't be biting my ass for 5 years. There's gotta be something really wrong on a source code level for some of these bugs being harder to kill than roaches from the projects in NYC!

This is how it's done on the Force. If you want to have a different drum program you gave to make a new track. But if you want to load up a bunch of programs to test out the same recorded patterns, you could use the MIDI send feature & send the first track to other drums tracks to test how it sounds. Just lower the volume for the first track. I hope that made sense. I might make a video show easy it really is.

How do you mean 'no word on it'? Do you mean no word saying that's how it will now work, or no word on solutions?

No word on solutions. A lot of people seem to be taking that guy's comments on audio/event mutes as meaning that the per sequence mutes issue is also going to be addressed, but I'm not seeing it. Maybe it's been confirmed elsewhere though.

I follow you now. Yeah the midi mute is s separate issue.

Here's Akai's word on track mutes affecting other sequences.
"I understand your feelings towards not wanting track mutes to carry over to the next sequence in the same position and you'd like them to change following the settings you have applied for each sequence and can understand why this would be very important.

The MPC3 software is still in beta status and has not yet been delivered to the public. Anything you've heard about the software up to this point may be changed. Beta versions may still have problems, particularly if they have not yet been given to the public, as well as other concerns that must be addressed before the final release. "
