Help with sampling from Serato DVS in MPC 2.15 Desktop.

Running Windows 11 and have an MPC Studio Black, and I'm running the latest version of MPC 2

I don't have an audio interface yet, and am struggling to figure this out. I did search on Google and YT but I didn't find anything that helped.

I did find a thread somewhere where the guy suggested using Voicemeeter to record audio if you don't have an interface. Since I'm extra and want to pretend like I'm producing the way old heads did. I'm trying to use my turntable + Serato. I set the audio input in MPC to Numark Scratch Line 1/2. I played a song in Serato using DVS and tried to sample it. When I hit record in MPC nothing is being recorded. Most of what I find on Google is either super old and outdated, or is for people with an audio interface. I plan to get 1 in a couple months. But for the time being I'm trying to figure out how to VoiceMeeter, or something else if anyone has a suggestion. So I can play a song in Serato and pull the sample that way.

Any help would be sweet. I'm sure I'm like 90% of the way there, but after messing with it all day that last 10% is never gonna happen lol.

I also have the Numark the Scratch and here it is how it worked for me. I have chosen Direct Sound as the Audio Device Type. Output and Input were put to primary sound.... Sorry, I don`t know the English word, as I am German. I guess selecting the Numark Scratch as the input source is wrong, because the audio signal is the Serato software. You only chose the Numark Scratch as your source, if you want to sample directly from vinyl. If my settings are not helping you, try to play around with different setting of the Audio Device Type.

In Serato DJ, open preferences and go to the Audio tab.

Tick the 'Make audio available in other applications' option. You may have to install Virtual Audio Cable, there's a link to download right under the option for this.

Load MPC software, go to preferences and set your input to the Virtual Audio Cable. My one appeared as 'Line 1 (Virtual Audio Cable)'

Go to the sampler on MPC and record.

I understood what you said, but after playing with for awhile I still was failing lol. I do want to keep trying though.

I won't even pretend I would have ever figured this out without help lol. It seems to work best with Wndows Audio as the device type if I use Directsound I have to turn the latency up to like 80ms, which might not make a difference when sampling. But with Windows Audio it's at 10ms. This works BEAUTIFULLY, and it's dead simple.

*EDIT* I just discovered it's a demo program and throws a "trial" audiotag on your recordings until you buy it. I'll go try Zé Bastians method since he said it works for him. And if I can't figure that out, I guess $30 for the VAC so I can sample is a pretty solid deal.

If any soul finds this and was as unlucky as me and can't get this working. I figured it out, it seems to be working 100% and I didn't need to buy VAC, which saved me $30. And while I'm super far from knowledgable when it comes to audio and setting it up. Anyone who is who does it for a living always will say if you have ASIO as an option, use it. The VAC method worked, but only as Windows Audio or Directsound, and it costs money. What I did works with ASIO and there's no need for software, so it should be the best method here.

I don't have "send audio to external source" enabled in Serato either and it's still sampling fine.

In MPC under Preferences my Audio Device is set to ASIO. Input & Output devices are both set to Numark Scratch ASIO (64) What I had to do to get it to record was uncheck all channels except for 5/6 under Active Input Channels. When they're all checked I got no sound when I recorded.

I can't explain why this fixes it, but I was watching a YT video on sampling into the MPC software and the guy said he had to have his channels set to 5/6 in MPC to be able sample into the software with his Focusrite interface. So maybe 5/6 is the standard here. All I know is it works. Another plus, the audio buffer's at 1.7ms, where I couldn't go lower than 10 in Windows Sound, and 80 in Directsound. And ASIO should provide the best sound quality.

Also don't be a n00b like me and record directly into your project like I was doing for the past half an hour, CTRL/CMD+8 opens the sampler.


I know this is basic stuff to the OGs but for someone still learning the process perplexed me.

Oh, and just to make sure it wasn't just working in Serato I sampled from a YT video and it worked.
