Maybe depends what a 'song' is to the individual?

For me, each sequence is a song. Generally 8 bars, with different tracks being variations on a progression/idea or section. ie Bass is track 1, Bass More is 2, Bass Most is 3.

This is what has changed at the moment. You can't have different songs per sequence.
All sequences share the same tracks and track structure.
Now AFAIK and since mpc os 3 is derived from the force os, force doesn't have that multiple sequence concept like mpc does. I anticipate that the standard individual sequence concept will be reimplemented at a later build.

If you need to have multiple songs per project it will still be possible but you'll have to dedicate a block of tracks to each song (song 1 = tracks 1-6, song 2 = tracks 7 to 12 etc). You can use the same track colours for each song.

Or maybe you could combine programs (track 1 = drums, where song 1 uses bank A, song 2 uses bank b etc). Probably lots of other ways to do this.

I just put in an 8TB SSD so i hope mpc3 goes off with audio recording especially lol

TB not GB. Pft, that’s nothing one of my 808 wavs is 64gb alone. I can’t even make music until they release disk streaming.

:hmmm: YES. Yes you can.

All sequences share the same tracks and track structure.

Which does NOT preclude one from creating an 80-128+ bar length sequence and making an entire song out of said sequence. And doing the same for other sequences. You're not limited to using same tracks for all sequences - just create more if needed!

What Force does have is the Clip Matrix, and I hope to all that is holy that this comes to MPC someday. It's a much more logical way of visualizing "sequences" IMHO.

.

That's the problem. If you load let's say 10 songs you will end up having all the tracks of the sequences in every sequence.

I believe this is exactly the miracle of multi songs they are praising. I mean, I love that every sequence in one song has the same layout across sequences. But obviously tracks and tracks for different songs in every sequence is unwieldly.

Yes it could definitely get unwieldy. but this has never been the intended use of a project (IMO). For me, I saw a project = a single composition (or variations around a theme, but these would likely still have the same track/program structure).

Any use beyond that is ultimately a workaround (e.g. having multiple unique songs in a single project) - possible in MPC2, yes. Possible in MPC3, yes, but harder to manage.

Same. I’d also argue that the workflow logic of 1:1 track relations bring a massive improvement, especially to those new to the MPC, and if this is the casualty of getting that, then so be it.

Some people are using the MPC as a launcher for clips and songs in a live set. They are the ones who cannot use the new MPC 3 workflow.

You can import MPC 2 legacy projects.
